We are considering renting a scooter from Walker or Randy's for my mom. Is one company better then the other?

The Walker Mobility site says they come apart and assemble very quickly and easily. Is this true?

Will they fit in the back of a minivan? We are renting from Dollar so I assume it will be a Caravan.

Will the battery really stay charged the whole day?

If she wants to leave the park before we are ready, can she take the bus back to OKW without a problem? Do all the busses have lifts? She would be able to walk onto the bus herself.

Is her handicap parking sticker that she has at home also valid in Florida?

Thanks for any info you can provide!

Randy's is less expensive than Walkers. However, Randy's requires you be there to personally accept the ECV while Walker will deliver it to Bell Services prior to your arrival and pick it up after you leave. I understand that Randy's also requires you to sign a waiver of liability and also be present when they come to pick up the ECV.

It normally only takes me one or two minutes to disassemble, and about two or three minutes to put it back together. The heaviest piece is 39 pounds. Note for the Deluxe Resorts I will always use valet parking. I will normally tip $2.00 both in and out. However, if the valet will do the disassembly/assembly I will tip $5.00 instead opf $2.00 (and if I need but get no assistance I will not tip and will talk to a manager).

I've never used a minvan, I find they will fit in the trunk of the larger full-size, four-door sedans (such as Buick Century or Dodge Intrepid or larger) which are easier to get in and out of with a mobility problem than a minivan.

The batteries are supposed to be good for about 25 miles. I am fairly heavy (almost 300 pounds) and have had some times when I left the ECV in the trunk overnight and had no problems on the second day.

I have had some times when I have used the bus. Normally with the lift a person will stay in the ECV as the lift goes both up and down. It is necessary to be able to maneuver the ECV within the bus. She might be able to set it to "freewheel" but the driver is on the ground operating the lift. What I would do is get on the bus and possibly turn the ECV around so it would be facing out. I would then go into a "regular" seat while the bus was moving. I have never used any of the "ramp" buses.

Yes. I have no problem with my Virginia hang tag. The only jurisdition I know of which will not accept any other for parking meter exemptions is the District of Columbia. Write to you Congressman to complain.

Thank you so much for answering all my questions! I am going to reserve a scooter with Walker Mobility tomorrow since they will deliver right to the resort. I will ask them if it will fit in the back of a minivan. If not, I can reserve a car instead. Thanks again!

It looks like your questions were answered.
We have rented vans from various companies and you may or may not get a Caravan, even if the "usual" vehicles from that company are Chrysler. Caravans/Voyagers are low to the ground and easy to get into, but we have also ended up with Chevy Astros, which are very high. The "Grand Caravan or Voyager" is a longer version and would have more room in the back.
We have used our DD's Minnesota parking permit with no problem over numerous trips. Florida has reciprocity (acepts the parking permits) of most (if not all) states.

I hadn't even considered the parking permit issue.
Good to know that permits issued in other states are valid in Florida.

and was very happy. The charge lasted all day, even when I was using it for a very long day. When you are at an attraction or otherwise not needing to move, turn it off, which will conserve power. Have a fun trip!
