I only recently got onto Facebook. Not long ago AT ALL. Anyway, went out, friended my b-mom who friended me back. Then her younger two (I'm the oldest) friended me, so I friended them.

And like 2 days ago, one of them updated our info so it says we're sisters. When I responded that yes, yes it's true it hit me like a ton of bricks.

I HAVE SISTERS.

:lovestruc

It's hard to explain, but emotionally, something is different. My momma is and will always be my momma. I love her in a way I will never love anyone else.

But my b-mom is my mom too and it's only now that I can admit that without feeling like I've betrayed my momma.

Geez. The things you learn about yourself. I have SISTERS.

I know someone with a step-sis that she's never been close to and I've encouraged her to do the Facebook thing as she wants to be closer to this step-sister.

What a strange, wonderful epiphany.

Sisters. And a mom.

Me.

 Aw...you made me cry happy tears :goodvibes

It's amazingly, a great way to (re)connect.

Congrats!

My brother was given up for adoption as an infant and when he found us we were overjoyed to have a brother! :)

Enjoy those sisters! (If you want any extras you can have mine. I'm keeping my brother, though.)

wow oh wow.. that is so neat!!!

BTW.. Hi from a fellow Louisiana girl!

Thank you, thank you , thank you...from a birthmother. You have made my night. I hope that someday when I meet my son he will feel the same about me and about his younger brothers and sisters.

I was lucky enough to locate DD's bio brother upon our return to the US. He's only slightly older. His parents were fine with forming a relationship. So we try to see them whenever possible and the two are very fond of each other. Really, she's known him for as long as she can remember. They have a great connection and I love that even though DD is an only child.....she has a brother. :rotfl: They won't have to wait to find each other as adults since we were able to form a friendship with the other family early on. I think the kids are very fortunate. :thumbsup2

I am so very happy for you!!
HURRAY!!!!

big hugs!

You don't ever have to feel guilty or have a sense of betrayal about loving all these people in your life.
I am an adoptee and the mum of a son we adopted as infant and I hope that we have raised our son with enough love in his heart to embrace all of his family, biological and adopted.

Big Koala cuddles to you all.

Oh! How wonderful for you! I hope one day to say that I have a sibling(s) too!

How wonderful for you! :cloud9:

I found my b'mom online too, and also found I have sisters. I always wanted sisters. :goodvibes Your post is exactly how I feel. My mama is still and always my mama, but I love my b'mom too, and it's very cool getting to know my sisters!

My b'mom has 3 daughters (we are actually half-sisters, but we aren't focused on the "half" part, and their dad considers himself my step-father, which is also kind of cool) Anyway, we all have the same favorite flavor of ice cream, and three of us got married the same weekend in October (different years). Also, one of them was at the same rock concert I was, back in 1984! We could have stood in line together in the ladies room and never known!

Have fun getting to know your sisters! As another poster said, it's just more to love! Loving my sisters and b'mom doesn't diminish the love I have for my parents :thumbsup2

You are so lucky. I am so happy for you. I wish I could find my birthmother. I tried but with no luck on Facebook. Chances are some of her relatives might have an account there but I wouldn't have any way of knowing. Just thinking that I might have some sisters, brothers, cousins, whatever just gives me chills up my spine. After all my birthmother was the 6th out of 9 siblings. One of her brothers had a child when I was born.

So weird having her name and yet not being able to find her or any of her siblings.

OMG, that is so sweet and wonderful!

I love to watch "The Locator". I always end up with a headache from crying. :thumbsup2

I found my birthmother on classmates.com :goodvibes

You might try there if you haven't already :thumbsup2

Thanks, but that wouldn't work since she didn't finish high school. Or at least that is what I am assuming. I was told that she and her siblings were uneducated. They had to work on the family farm to survive. They were living in some southern state under very poor conditions.

Awesome!!! And you don't have the famous "sister history" to hold against them, either!! :lmao:

Congratulations!

How VERY wonderful for you! Thanks for sharing it with us.

I wish I could find my birthparents. I have spent a lot of time looking and $$ on a hired person. No luck.

I love hearing stories like yours. I hope someday this will be my story too.
