I. Am currently planning our first visit to universal studios / discovery cove / sea world we will be staying at the new cabana bay resort for 14 days I have 11 of the fourteen days planned so here are my questions

1. Are there any other great experiences around the area that are worth going to see ? We have three open days

2. Are there mini fridges in our hotel rooms that we could store lunch meat and etc. ? To save a few bucks I'm no means rich this is a budget vacation lol

3. Do you have any suggestion on meal saving ideas or any cost cutting ideas ?

4. I have heard about a refillable mug at the park what are the price of these cups ?

I was hoping to keep a budget of about $100.00 a day for meals for three people is this unrealistic and if so what is a good figure I have 11 more months of saving ... Thank you very much in advance

Since you are going to DC, you get 14 day tickets to both SW and Aquadica. Aquadica is a great water park right near SW. Worth a day there. And, for an extra $20 when you buy your DC tickets, you get 14 days to Busch Gardens Tampa. That is a great park to spend a day or two at. It is about an hour or so ride from SW/USO. You can always check for discount tickets to Fun Place, which is very close to Universal. Groupon sometimes also has half price tickets to that place and the mini golfs in the area.

I do not know if the new hotel will have a fridge. I know the other on site ones do not.

If you will have a car, there are many places to eat more cheaply.

I forget the price of the cups, but I think around $9, with $.99 refills and a much more expensive cup with free refills with the fancy soda machine.

Save money by bringing things to eat in your room. Share some quick service meals. Some can be large. Check the menu's in Damo's sticky at the top of this thread.

Have a great trip. We enjoy lots of places and not even visit the mouse.

On the rooms, depends on what room you got. If you are going before July then you should have one of the family rooms that do have a small kitchen but if you are going after then you might have a standard room and those don't have them. Look on their website and it will give you details on the type of room and what they have in them.

I did see they will not have the Keurig coffee makers :)

Since you have extra days, I would encourage you to explore the natural side of Florida. Florida's natural springs are a must-see... try Rock Springs at Kelly Park or Wekiva Springs. Both are a bit of a drive from the Universal area, but SO worth it. At Rock Springs, you can go tubing. There's nothing quite like floating down a natural lazy river in the shade of ancient Florida trees!
