My sister and her DH just joined DVC (I wished her a big welcome home when she told me the news). The only probalem is that they bought 40 more points than we have. I have discussed an add-on with DH (actually we discussed this back when BCV was first available for sale), but there is no way we can afford it since we just had a baby and now #2 is on the way. Ah well, I'll just have to secretly envy my sister's wealth of points until we can afford an add-on.

There's really no point to this post.

Oh wait - I have a question. What is the perk for one referral in a year. How will be notified of our referral benefit?

Happy Day, KathyK!

When we referred my husband's brother and family, we got $200 in Disney Dollars after they closed. You'll recieve a form in the mail where you can choose either Disney Dollars, $ off on future DVC purchase, $ towards dues or a donation to charity.

Since we were so close to a trip, we chose the Disney Dollars and boy did they come in handy!!

Enjoy! (and I'm right there with you with the points envy. Said BIL bought more points than we had.

Hi, KathyK! Congratulations on the new baby you had recently and on your baby-to-be coming soon! :D

Hopefully you'll be able to see your way clear someday to add on a few more points. Hmmm.... Doesn't 41 points sound like just the right amount to add on? ;)

Oh yes, 41 points sounds exactly right. Actually, I was thinking about 50 or 100.

I was discussing the options for the referral perk with DH last night. He asked me what I wanted to do. I said, "Well, $200 off the dues won't be that exciting, since we pay monthly - so that will just save us a few dollars a month. We won't be getting the Disney Dollars in time for our upcoming trip (we leave on Saturday). It looks to me like the most sensible option is to use it toward a point purchase. And we'd better act on that before 12/1."

I thought that DH would say that we could absolutely not do an add-on now, but instead he said, "We'll see." Sounds promising, no? I mean - with two kids in the family (when we bought we didn't have any), we're going to need more points to get those 2 BR villas and to go during school holidays (in several years when DD is in school).

Sounds like a plan to me!!;) Just be sure to check your state is one that can receive the perks. Minnesota is not, so all the buyers we have referred, we have only gotten a "thank you for your referral" letter and a "sorry your state does not allow us to make an award" paragraph in it!:(

You're making complete sense to me! And, of course, there's always Christmas. And birthdays. And anniversaries. And -- whatever! Additional points make great gifts....

Hi KathyK!

I see you're from NJ. I am too, and I just received a packet in the mail from DVC for referrals. It said that if you refer someone from NJ, they must send in one of the enclosed postcards with your name on it as a referral(it gave direct instructions as to how to fill out the card). This only applied to the state of NJ. I'm not sure I totally understand it, but if I did, I think that that's the only way you can collect on your referral. You might want to check with your guide, as each state has different rules and regulations for collecting a referral reward. If your sister also lives in Jersey, she may have to send the postcard in. If she's out of state, different rules may apply. Just make sure you check with your guide so you can be sure to get your reward!

Good luck!

I thought that the post cards were for our convenience (to send to a friend and say - hey... look at how great DVC is). Oh well, I'll ask my sister and BIL to send in the silly post card (but I will call my guide and double check on that).
