Don't know if this has been posted yet but....

I was just at WDW and met up with some friends one of them was returning pins at one of the counters.

So we went to give her a hard time, Then a manager came over and told us about the new return rule.

Well we have heard rumors and such, but now its official in 3 to 4 weeks you can only return pins that are 30 days old or less, regardless of whether you have a receipt or not.

What does that mean? It's easy you buy a pin you have 30 days to either exchange it or return it for credit.

The rule is very explicit if the pin is older than 30 days, no exchange no return, no trade for other merchandise, no no no... You have 30 days to do something else you are stuck with it.

SO those of you that got pins you want to exchange you have 3 to 4 weeks to do it or else TO LATE!!

Now how they are going to prove that a pin is more than 30 days old if you dont have a reciept is a mystery, I mean there are still Christmas pin on the shelves at Expo Hall.

I'm just passing along what I was told.

ARe you sure this policy is for ALL pins or just LTD? I was talking about this to a friend of mine who is the mgr at The Art of Disney at DTD, and I was under the impression that this applied to LTD, like those new pins they are selling that are $25? Maybe I misunderstood?

I probably won't be talking to her until later this week, with the rally on Tuesday and the stockholder's meeting here on Wednesday. But I will ask her again.

 Does anyone know when this Officially takes effect? I have some pins that I was keeping till the lights, Camera, Pins event and returning them if I did not trade them.

This really is bad for CMs. If we have an item that is older than 30 days we are stuck with it because we can't return it and we can't sell it to get our money back. That just doesn't seem right.

And what about guests who buy items on one vacation and find out it's not what they want so they try to return it on the next. Is Disney really going to refuse them even though the same item may still be on the racks??

Ed - I have a question being that I am from up North. If I buy pins that I decide I want to return, can I do so by mail? At first I thought about sending them down to friends to return for me but then Disney wants the same credit card which they won't have.

Thanks for your help.

I would contact the Merchandise Guest Service department about that question. I beleive the e-mail address is listed on the top of your receipt.

When the Disney Store sold it's first series of pins, they were considered collectibles. Back then, our return policy was 90 days. It was changed to 30 days quite some time ago, but the rest of the pin series were not listed as collectibles anymore. I mentioned in another thread recently that a former CM returned $175 worth of pins in early February, back from 2001! :( Geez.

I don't know how the parks handel return w/o a receipt. My dad bought me something I don't like last year, but w/o the receipt, i can't return it. Besides, he paid full price for it. If I tried to return it, they would take my discount. So it sits in a bag in my room.

When I spoke to my mgr. friend last night, she said she had heard that a new return policy was going into effect for pins, but she did not know when. It sound like the policy is already in effect for the pins that they sell, those gallery pins that are $25? Their receipts have the 30 day return policy printed on the back anyway.

OfficerChipmuck, I got stuck with some pins from 1999 (as mentioned above) b/c I had them to trade in March 2000 ( went to the WDAC convention) but never used them. I couldn't return them, but ended up trading them later. My advice is, if you feel that you may have some left over, you might want to return them before this new policy goes into effect. Not much help, I know.

Good luck! :D

That's my plan. I just have to find out when it goes into effect. I guess I'll have to track down a merchandise manager this weekend. The CMs at pin traders said they had not heard of the change in policy.

They used to take pins and any other park merchandise as returns in the Disney Stores nationwide. I think you did need to have the receipt, but there was no time limit.

Has this changed?

I talked to a manager at Pin Traders today. He said that they are talking about enacting a 30 day return policy for all LE merchandise. There is no date yet as to when it will go into effect.
