I have Military tickets but...

I know there is an answer for my question somewhere around here, but I've havent found it.

My Fiancee is Military and is able to get us discounted tickets. He will not be attending with us in Feb, would I be able to use the passes without his presance? I do not have Military ID nor do our children.

The answer is an absolute maybe.

If you are talking about the Armed Forces Salute Tickets ($138 for a four day hopper or four day with WPF&M or $165 for a four day hopper with WPF&M) the answer is a resounding No! These tickets must be activated at a ticket or Guest Relations window and requires the physcal presence of the service member or a person with a DD1173 indicating they are the spouse.

If you are talking about any regular MYW ticket where the discount is usually less than 10% from Gate price the answer is yes, he can buy the tickets and you can use them.

We are going with a military family member who bought the tickets for all 5 of us in the group and I know he has to show id the first time we use the tickets, but what if we decide (since they are park hoppers) that 2 of us want to go to a different park? Will he have to be with us when we go to the other one, or what about if someone like me wants to sleep in and meet up with everyone else later? Will that be a problem?

If they current Military tickets are like the ones in the past few years the military member will have to be with all of you the first time you activate/use the tickets. After that they pretty much act like regular MYW tickets. At least this was our experience when the in-laws went with us one year and DH bought them the military app. tickets. We all went to one park together that first day and after that we were able to (luckily) split up.

It is only at the time the tickets are purchased or activated (if purchased elsewhere) at a WDW Ticket Window that the service member (or spouse) must be present with an ID. Once they are activated there is no longer any need to show ID.

However, each ticket will require a finger scan which ties it to an individual on first use, so tickets should not be switched between people in the group.

Unless they've made changes since Summer 2009 no finger scan was needed, our DS (Military) went to Shades of Green purchased all of our tickets they were activated there, that was the only time and ID was required and it was his to show he was truely in the Military, and then we were free to go to what ever park we wanted to. There is a difference.

The four day Armed Forces Salute Tickets, even if sold at SoG, must be activated at a Park Ticket Window or Guest Relations Office or it will not work in the turnstiles. (In 2009 these were five day tickets).

Any other ticket sold at SoG, such as either the Stars & Stripes of discounted MYW tickets are live and do not require activation.
