My refrigerator Died on me during the night last night


The repairman was here at 8am this morning to fix it, alas it was the compressor(it is 20 years old) So I had to go between shifts today to look for a new refrigerator at Sears, and they did not have any I wanted in stock....would not even sell me a floor model....if I saw someone there with $1300 to buy a fridge I would sell them the floor model. So I said OK, whne could you get me one delivered, and the said Saturday!!! ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! . I am leaving for DISCON on Thursday. So as soon as I get of work this evening I am going to go to another store.


Just what I need before my vacation...extra expenses. Well I will hopefully finance one somewhere 6 mos no interest, so I can pay it back this spring.

I feel your pain Pat. We got back from a two week vacation in Europe in 1997 to find that our refrigerator had died while we were gone. The smell in the house was so bad that my DS got physically ill. I went out the next morning to purchase a new fridge. I was fortunate enough to find one that I liked. I asked them if it could be delivered that day. They said "No". I offered them a LOT of money to have it delivered the same day. The just shook their heads and told me that it was impossible. Fortunately, I only had to wait 24 hours.

Good luck on your search. My only advice is to AVOID KENMORE at all costs. Just a personal grudge against crappy Sears fridges.

<font face="comic sans ms">Pat, I'm sorry. When Alan and I were in Alaska for three weeks, our freezer went out. It was September so the food didn't get too gross right away. My sister kept telling me on the phone, "I think the garage is really starting to smell like kitty litter. It smells worse every day" Well, when we came home it was in full gross out mode. I guess it's better that it happens now and not while you're gone. I'll send some Okie Pixie Dust your way.

Our frig also died well we were on vacation - what is it with that? Did we come home to a surprise! Lucky for me I always clean the frig out before we go away or it could have been much worse. I now have spare frig as a family of 6 requires an extra. Try Costco - they have some nice looking side by sides at a pretty good price.

I also like buying from Sears, BUT, just like you, I have problems getting the delivery on "your" time instead of theirs! I have a long story that I could tell about Sears delivery, that is similar to this kind of aggravation, but just suffice it to say, I feel your disgust! Timing stinks.

Well look at the bright side at least it happened before you left and not during like some of the others have posted. You would have been aggravated as soon as you got home from a wonderful trip. I don't know if you have P.C. Richards by you but they deliver within 24 hours.

I just saw your post, Pat, I'm trying to catch up from not being here yesterday. I'm sorry that happened to you. As if you didn't have enough to do to get ready for DIS-CON!
How did you make out? Were you able to get a new fridge & get it delivered?

Nope, I bought one...but they can't deliver this week. so they will deliver it when I return on the 3rd.
