For the Americans reading this, it has nothing to do with insurance, though in a way, I suppose it does. For those who recall my medical emergency last year, I just had my blood tests again yesterday. My overall cholesterol is 119(!)(down from 186 in Feb) with my HDL at 41 and LDL at 52. My triglyceriedes were 131, down from 383 in Feburary!!! These are all good numbers, and I know they are mine, because they do it right in front of you. All that excerise, good diet, travel, and strong support has helped. Have to keep it up. Just thought you'd like to know.

Joe - none of that makes any sense to me, I'm afraid, but if you say it's good news then I'm happy for you!

Congratualtions, and here's wishing you continued improvements in your health :)

Hey great news Joe,
I hope to be able to buy you a pint soon without worrying that it'll be bad for you!
Will be in touch very soon, had a mad week, just dipping into the DIS very quickly and saw your post.
All the best,
Sandra

That's excellent news Joe! :) You must be so pleased.

That's great Joe. Just being nosey, but are you on those special drugs to bring it down? My father-in-law takes them, brought his down too, but not as low as yours. You know your cholesterol wasn't really that high. Should serve as a warning to those of us who think all is well with our own levels.

I don't even know what my levels of any of those things are and I'm guessing I'm typical of a lot of people in the UK. I do take a multi-vitamin and mineral supplement which includes B vitimins, folic acid and selenium amongst other things as I read they are good for lowering homocysteine which is supposed to be even worse for your health than high levels of cholesterol.

Anyway, pleased to hear things are looking up for you, Joe.

I've been taking lots of meds, exercising 3 or 4 times a week, and really watching what I eat. I'm down almost 20 pounds from this time last year. I've had no problem with the meds, no side effects, etc. It is worth it to do. It's amazing, the first time I went to the doctor after I got out of the hospital he asked if I was still taking my medicine. It was like, 'duh!" I couldn't believe he would ask. He says it's amazing the amount of people who not only don't take their medicine, they don't even bother to follow up with the doctor. Go figure. I have been very good about all the stuff. If he wants me to take medicine for the next fifty years, 10 times a day, that's okay by me.
My numbers are very very good for anyone. My goal now is to get them better! Like I posted earlier in chat, one glass of wine a day is good, so 2 should be better! Works for me. Oh, beer is good to. Except is doesn't taste all that good on breakfast oatmeal. Yuck.
Anyhow. thanks for all the kind words now, and last year.
Joe

I am really pleased for you Joe :) You've done wonderfully well and must feel really relieved that your readings are so much better! Keep up the good work!!

Joe I haven't got a clue what it all means, but you're pleased so it must be good. Well done.
