I have changed my vote!

I am not, of course, asking that anyone ‘change’ their vote. That would be presumptuous.

I was merely explaining why I went from Senator McCain to Senator Obama.

I am from a “Goldwater” family. However, as I explained on another thread, even my 84 year old father has voted for Obama (early voting). I do respect his viewpoints a lot more than those expressed on this DIS board by anonymous posters. He feels that the Republican party has become corrupted by various special interest groups (including the “Religious Right”).

My mother (age 80) has been a ‘liberal’ for decades.

I leaned towards Senator McCain. Now, due to reasons listed in my original post, I will vote for Senator Obama next Tuesday.

If my vote proves decisive, I will be proud. However, I suspect that some 180 million others will also cast their vote. I will be proud, as an American, to abide by the result.

Oooh, clever Obama campaign psy ops directly from his web site. You're a good Obama soldier, but a very unconvincing "vote changer." Nice try. I'm all atwitter with the fear that you've "changed your mind" and are now an Obama supporter. Oh no! Could this be a trend? Should I change my vote, too? It must be happening all over, right? And, and, it's the Palin choice! Yeah, lots of people were going to vote for him until Palin came along, but she ruined it. Ohhhhh noooooo.

Please. No one's fallin' for these Obama campaign head games. When we McCain supporters see this stuff, our first thought is, "Wow, the Obama internal polls must be disastrous! These people are astroturfing their heads off."

Loco :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: loco!!!!!!

I don't usually go public with my political choices but I have to agree with the OP on this one. I started out an avid McCain supporter, then something happened. He became like all the rest. Do and say whatever is necessary to put the other guy down. Don't have a plan of your own, just don't like the other guys. Then he chose Palin and that was that.

In this election I won't be voting so much for the best of the presidential candidates as the best of the VP's. I hated the use of the word scared, but, frankly his choice scares me. I have two educated and extremely intelligent daughters and I made an effort to let them know that anything was possible and gender meant nothing. It still doesn't. If McCain would have chosen a man as unqualified as Palin I would feel the same way.

His choices and his manner of conducting HIS campaign with mud slinging instead of substance made me drop him from being my first choice. I'm not even sure he would be my second choice anymore.

Obama's way of galvanizing a crowd, of turning the proper phrase and generally making me feel good about being an American again is what did it. Whatever person wins this election, I will support until they give me reason not too. I have to admit, at this point, that I feel that Obama best fills my needs and the needs of this country.

Those that hold a position that a Black man shouldn't be President or that a woman shouldn't be on the ticket (and there are many) will effectively cancel each other out. Those that can make a real unbiased decision will actually be the ones doing the decisive voting. At this stage of the game I feel that everyone has pretty much made up their minds so all this rhetoric is just that, rhetoric. It has no influence in a positive manner.

The only negative thing that hasn't been dredged up about Obama so far is that he has a birth mark in the shape of a swastika or something.

Get out and vote on Tuesday. That is the only way that anyone can assure that they did everything possible to get their choice elected. As long as we do not have any dangling chads anywhere it should be something that we can be proud of as a nation. We've come a long way folks.

If you are going to change your vote because of what you read here, I feel you are letting your right to vote be persuaded by others. Your vote should be based on what you believe in. I believe in God and what the Bible says about things like abortion, marriage, how to treat others. I believe that Americans have the right to make as much money as they can and not have to distribute it to others who do not work for it. I believe in helping those who need help but no free ride. No one is perfect...there's wrong everywhere. Maybe there has been more anti-Obama postings is because there has been more things found wrong and disturbing there. Maybe change is needed in our country---but not that much change. McCain would not have been my first choice for President but Obama would not have made the top 10. So who should I vote for? I never heard of Palin before she was nominated but I had heard of Biden. I would pick Palin over Biden too. I guess you can tell I'm not liberal. At least I am basing my vote on my beliefs and opinions and not on the anti or pro postings of others.

Still not buying it. I LOVE the smell of astroturfing desperation in the evening!

Vote for whomever you want.

The concept that you think he's a good choice because the conservatives on a Disney message board disagree is certainly interesting... especially given your reasoning that the evil, mind-numbingly stupid McCain supporters have bad things to say about a candidate whose platform they have nothing in common with. I'm so impressed that the Obama supporters haven't done that.

I've been trying to decide what to do on my day off tomorrow. I hope Rush is available to tell me what to do, because otherwise I'll be spinning in circles out of sheer cluelessness.

Bravo!!

Furthermore, after viewing the “threads’ on this board for the last month, I can make this statement: the supporters of Senator John McCain are peeing in their pants about the possible election of Senator Obama.

I must say you sound a "wee wee" bit delusional here.;)

Without 'agreeing' with all you say, I do thank you for this intelligent, thoughtful post. You are a gem.

I shall now dance for you and you alone!

legalsea - I can understand where you are coming from. I was originally pro Edwards. I have nothing against Hillary - she is my Senator and I voted for her but I really didn't want to see this campaign become all about Whitewater and Monica and such. When Edwards dropped out, I started to look into all the "talking points" about Obama as I really didn't know too much about the man. And the more I looked into all those "talking points" the more I discovered how much BS there was and I soon realized that there was actually quite a bit to admire about the guy and his life story.

And just in case you don't read the Conservative thread previously known as the "no kool-aid thread" - be prepared for an onslaught:

Tattle-tale. Cross-post posting: I've never seen anyone but an Obama supporter do that. It's creepy and stalkerish. Don't be looking into my State of Ohio driving records now to discredit me. That would be illegal — and the backlash would be brutal! ;)

Great post
Who on God's Earth would allow their choice of POTUS to be influenced by a bunch of people on a discussion board? Geez Louise

Stalking is creepy.

How many times has the conservative board gone over to the Obama thread and cross posted? None

You better hope they don't look into your taxes either.:lmao:

I also realize that “my presidential candidate” may not win. If so, so be it. The USA will go on. It has survived greater calamities than this. I, in truth, am more interested in my local races: who will be my House representative? We have a Senator up for election: will he win? How about the mayor? The school board? I do not vote a ‘straight’ ticket. I vote for whom I think is best qualified, or, in the alternative, who will steal less.

Oops! You seem to forget the mysterious star-shape on the back of his head, which *could* be a birth mark, which *could* be a six-sided star, which *might* just mean he has the mark of the beast. Almost like a swastika. :lmao:

Cross-posting? Is that anything like cross-dressing?

I have no need to discredit anyone. Just bringing things into the light of day and letting the postings speak for themselves. ;)

I don't think you'll find anyone who has a problem with that.

But do you not see the irony in the fact that you think the conservative DISboard members are letting Rush Limbaugh influence them when you are turning around and letting those same conservative DISboard members influence YOU?

I truly don't care who you vote for or how you arrived at that decision. And I don't mean that in a nasty way. It's your choice, your vote. But, to me, this was a very odd thing to post. (Your original post... not the one I just quoted.)

I see it everywhere I go, and it's always total garbage.

From here on out, the Obama people have marching orders e-mailed to them on an hourly basis to spread lies and try to suppress the McCain vote, because if all of McCain's voters vote, McCain wins BIG — and the Obama campaign knows it. They are terrified!! Look for them early, early Tuesday to post a thread saying "McCain has conceded the election." That's what they've all been told to do on every website they can, and then the MSM will do a report saying "We're getting a report that XYZ website says McCain will concede the election by noon" blah, blah, blah. Call them out on every one of these astroturfing lies."

I'm starting to worry about some of my fellow DISers:grouphug:

I feel so used. I've donated to Obama's campaign, yet I never get any of the "good" emails. How come the people who aren't voting for him keep ending up with all the good emails? Why did I have to come to the DIS to learn the details of THE SECRET SUPER DUPER SOCK IT TO THEM PLAN?

Should I assume Obama had these fliers printed and distributed?

For Loco and all of the other out there who can't fathom the thought of someone voting for Obama after being on the fence, here is the OP's post from back in August. It cleary shows that he was considering voting for the McCain/Palin ticket.

Frankly, Governor Palin's inexperience does not bother me; nor am I bothered by Senator Obama's inexperience.

While I disagree with some of Governor Palin's beliefs (as I do with Obama and McCain) it does appear that she is honest. I have no problem with voting for someone I disagree with politically, if they are honest (not only about what they believe and hold true in their heart, but not having a hand in the till). We have more than enough dishonest people in elected office (city, state and national levels). It has always puzzled me how some people will vote for an obviously dishonest person, simply on the basis that said crook is in his or her political party.

Indeed, I have been on the fence between Obama and McCain (both of whom I view as being basically honest), but this selection of Governor Palin may well have nudged me into the McCain camp.

Side note: I voted for President Carter way back when. While he was certainly an honest person, it was distressing to see his family and friends infest the White House and start carrying off the presidential spoons.

Goodnight all.

OP, thanks for showing your support for Obama! :thumbsup2 It doesn't matter what evidence you have to show that you have been on the fence, people will throw mud at you and call YOU a liar, just like they are doing to Obama. It's been a dirty, nasty campaign for the McCain camp. You mad the right choice! :woohoo:

What is it with the detective work looking into other threads then cross posting, and searching for old posts? It's so Orwellian.

Stalking is creepy. I agree. But when I read something "interesting" I like to share that information.

On the other hand, how many times has the conservative thread posted about something they read in another thread and suggested that their cohorts go over and gang post?
