I just booked a special DVC cruise for 9/4-9/8-05 and couldn't get the cat I want and booked a cat 9 which was the only one left and the cabin is # 1062 which I just read on Dave's web site is a noisy room! This is our 1st time on the Wonder as we have sailed on the Magic 3 other times in a cat 7. I am so nervous about being on Deck 1 but I really wanted to go on this special cruise that I justified it by saying to my husband that we would be one of the first people off the ship at CC..Need your expert advice as to waitlisting for another cabin (there is a 75.00 dollar fee for going on the waitlist) or acutally cancelling and waiting till they do another DVC cruise (which they may never do)..what do you guys think? thank for any advice you might have in advance..Marianne pirate: :boat: :confused3

We stayed in 1048 in March and loved Deck 1. Very quiet, no hall traffic, only two easy decks away from the atrium, first off the ship, first back to your room when you re-board. I would not hesitate to stay there again. The two portholes were neat too, one for each kid.

One word of caution, keep your shades shut while you're in the room in port. When we were in St. Maarten, I opened my shades to see everyone walking along the dock.

Don't worry about the room. Have a good time.

Thanks for your quick reply.1 question for you how was the elevator did you have to wait long for it? Marianne PS I feel better already:sunny:

Did you book with Disney direct?
If so,

Have you thought about asking
Dreams Unlimited if they have a better option?

they had great choices for our cruise.

Not too long a wait for the elevator. Often times we would walk up first, to Deck 3, and take the elevator from there. We used the mid ship lifts most the time, and saw a lot of different CM's coming and going to and from the crew areas.

We even saw a fire drill one day. Very interesting.

Hey, fellow DVC cruiser!

I think we're going to be so busy having fun on this cruise you'll probably just fall into bed at night and be dead for a while, but just in case... bring earplugs! Then... no worries!

We were on Deck 1 for two of our cruises. Can't remember the first room # but I remember the second was room 1030, the last room at the end of your hallway. The only noise we ever heard was when they took up the walkway before leaving shore.

We loved that room. Right across the hall was a door to a short hallway that led right to the forward elevators and the walkway to shore. So convenient!

If you check the layout of your floor you'll see there aren't many rooms there. That means the elevators to your floor won't be very busy.

Don't worry, have a great time, and be sure to let us know all the fun you had.

Best wishes.

Hi from another fellow DVC cruiser! I've stayed in one of the "noisy rooms" on deck two. Loved the room, not a problem at all. As posted earlier in the thread, the only real noise was brief when coming in and out of port. I had read there was more (slight) engine noise/vibration from being on a lower deck but did not find that at all.

You guys are so knowaldgeable(SP)! Thanks for all your help and I really feel so much better now..can't wait to go!!

232271 - Just an FYI :) : )

This is a special cruise offered by DVC for DVC members. You could only book it through DVC and it sold out within 5 hours of being released. The waitlist to get on board is already growing.

While I do agree Dreams is great. They will not be able to help her. Thanks for the suggestion. :) :)

If you are worried about the noise, you could take along one of those sound spa machines. I had read on other boards that these help a lot. :o

Ok, so enquiring minds want to know, what is so special about a DVC cruise?

Well the #1 special thing is that you are sailing with all your DVC neighbors. We take over the ship and have a great time.

On the last Members Cruise (Feb. '03) here were some of the special things:

*We did CC twice - yes that member cruise was the first one where CC was planned as a two visit stop.

*The tour of the Wonder that is usually done by a castmember was done by one of the Imagineers who helped design the interior space.

*Special offers - like 50% off another cruise booked on board.

*Gifts in the stateroom every night, a shopping bag one night, t-shirts the next, and a limited edition teapot.

*A musical performance by Andrea McArdle. She's the original Annie and has also played Belle on Broadway.

Can't wait to see what makes this next one so special. It will be Key West, a day at sea, then CC this time. Many of the cruisers are repeaters from the first Member Cruise and I'm so looking forward to cruising with my friends again!:D

dzneprincess, this is how the cruise was advertised in the Member's newsletter!
