Back in 2010, we stayed at POFQ.

My solo trip in 2011 I stayed at AKL.

In October 2011 we did one night at Pop and the rest at CR.

In September 2012, we stayed one night at ASSports, three nights at YC, and three nights at OKW.

I just booked a 4 night full 5 days, impromptu, free-dining-fueled solo trip for early November. I wasn't going to go this year, but I figured I could go ahead and get my annual pass now to use on our big trip next year. But because we're going on a big trip next year, I decided to stay at ASMusic this year.

I just can't get myself excited about ASMusic! I'm going to be at Disney, but I keep wishing I was staying at CR, or YC, or even AKL... Knock some sense into me! I never even stayed on property when I was a kid, and now I'm disappointed if I'm not deluxe! Our plan is to hopefully stay BWV next October, so it's not too long until my next fancy shmancy trip...

I did look into renting points, but prices have gone up. I want to be excited about Disney! I am looking forward to the parks but NOT the room. Guess Stacy plays on all TVs equally, right? :snooty:

So I count 4 trips here? Is that correct? You can afford 4 trips to Disney world - both have the money and the time - and you are asking people to knock some sense into you? I am not sure I can help here... I would appreciate just one trip... And stay at the days in downtown Orlando.

Yes. You have a point. Now I really need some extra sense knocked into me.

To be fair though, I didn't go to WDW from 1999 until 2010.

I hear you. I started out at moderates, then started staying at deluxes... And there is no looking back for me. The Art of Animation looks cool... And maybe I'd stay there... All Stars have never interested me. I'd have a hard time psyching myself up too.

I LOVE AKL but after staying in a 3br deluxe suite there, well, a regular room without the PHENOMENAL bathroom made me sad. Haha. (I'm not loaded. Stayed in that room with a cast member who got like 70% off, and split it between multiple adults).

I totally get it... We always stayed value and then last year, decided to stay moderate... When it became time to decide where to stay this year, I wanted to do value since it was cheaper, but after paying for a mod- I just couldn't go back to value... :) Way nicer and more relaxing! :)

I think this situation completely depends on the individual. We have stayed at all levels, granted delux twice and mod once, but I personally really prefer the value, or should I say POP. DH and I went on our first trip without the kids and stayed at AKL. It is a beautiful resort, and I really love it. We are staying there in January with the kids actually. But, I found that we just didn't spend enough time at the resort to fully enjoy all it had to offer. We were too busy either in the parks or DTD. We did eat there, and use the pool and hot tub. We sat on our savanah view balcony often. But honestly for the cost vs how much time we stayed there, I am just not sure.:confused3

DH and I are leaving this Wednesday for our 3rd couples only trip. I originally booked POR Riverside Royal Room. We LOVE the water taxi, but I ended up switching back to the POP. To me, it yells Disney. I love the energy, the giant icons, and all the nostalgia POP has to offer. The food court can be crazy at peak times, but honestly we are there so little we don't usually eat there.

I am really hoping our girls, 6 & 13 will enjoy staying at AKV in January. Although I think it is a gorgeous resort and many fun things to do, it doesn't scream Disney the way POP does.

Our 25 year old son dislikes any of the values, and now that he is on his own, he and his wife only stay deluxe. The reasons he gives are , larger beds, ceiling fans, hot tub and restaurants.

I say to each their own, and just find the right place for you. Whether it is value, moderate, deluxe, rental home, on or off site. There are so many wonderful places to choose to stay.pixiedust:

One day, DH and I plan on being snow birds, we live in Michigan. While in Florida for the winter, we would love to stay at each of the deluxe resorts and just enjoy the resort. We are actually considering buying in DVC.

I get it. We did deluxe for the first time in May and splurged on CL. There were so many things that excited me about staying at BC but I'm taking my 5 year old in November and staying at Pop and I really just don't feel any excitement about the resort this time. It's just a cheap room to stay on property.

But I'm totally psyched about the trip overall!! :yay:

I get you. Especially if you are a frequent WDW guest, you're not going to spend all day every day in the parks. It would get boring. Having a great resort that fits your comfort level is important.

I get it. :goodvibes. We go every year and have been staying CL at deluxes on our family trips, most recently YC CL in April.

Well, in 2 weeks I get a bonus trip!! My DH was nice enough to book a trip for me and my BFF as a Mothers Day gift. He had initially booked us at POP but I wasn't very excited about that, mostly because we've already stayed there. So, we moved our reservation to POFQ and I am excited about it, but would really have liked to stay at CR!

Plus our family trips are usually 10-11 days and this upcoming trip is only 6 days. I'm worried about how I'm going to get everything done! :scared:

I know that sounds terrible, and I really am grateful for a bonus trip this year. I am sure I will absolutely love POFQ! Plus, between Food and Wine and MNSSHP, we won't be in the room much anyway. :thumbsup2

It's Disney, my favorite place after all! :dance3:

We have been going every year since 2000, and only stayed in an All Star resort once; when we actually lived in Florida. It's a much longer distance now, so the trip has grown to a six day event, and we always stay at WL or AKL. We have talked about trying others, but are never able to do it. It is hard to leave the room at AKL, there is always an animal at your window that needs its picture taken! CL at either resort has never interested us because we just aren't at the resort long enough to really enjoy it. Also, outs is adults only, which influences resort choice.

I hear what you are saying. My husband and I have decided that if we can't stay at least moderate, deluxe or rent points for DVC (and DVC is now our favorite way to go), we will skip a trip. After one night at a value in April, I told him NEVER again. So I guess I have turned into a resort snob.

Hehe I think I may be catching it. I've only stayed on property once at a Mod (all other times my family's rented a house). Now my next trip I'm determined to stay on property again but since my cousins who are coming with are on a budget we may be staying at a value. But I'm still looking at Mod rooms to see if it's possible. (I didn't even spend much time in my room last trip)

Yeah, I get it too. Our experience was that the first time we stayed at BC we absolutely fell in love with the location. We spend so much time eating and enjoying the BW, WS, and EPOCT area, so being able to take a short walk to those ...plus the proximity to the boat to HS ( or even walking), it has become the main reason we go to Disney World at all.
Too bad, in a way, because on our first trip staying at The Disney Institute Bungalows we were just happy to be there at all, and riding the busses was just another part of the fun.
End result for us is we now go less often so we can afford to stay where we really want. It's our trade off, and for us it makes the trip more exciting to look forward to.

Wherever you go, sure hope you have a great time!
:goodvibes

Are you just at this site to torture yourself then? Because a lot of people here have taken WAY more than 4 trips. Seriously, what was the point of your post?

Glad to come back here and see so many other people who are "snobby" too. I thought it was pretty ungrateful of me to be all "eh, ASMu, whoop", but it's nothing against the resort or Disney or even me "needing better". It's more that I have either stayed right by the parks (CR, YC) or that I've stayed in gorgeously themed "adult" resorts (AKL, OKW).

It's hard to get back in the Values mindset. That being said, ASSports is one of my favorite resorts because it was the first I ever stayed at on property, and it was where we stayed back when I was on dance team as a teenager and we came down for dance nationals. A lot of great memories at that resort. It's just hard to compare someplace like that with someplace like CR where you can just saunter over to the park, ya know?? :teacher:

I haven't 100% given up on renting points, but I just don't want to pay what most people are asking. I don't really really mind giving up free dining, but it was the catalyst for the trip! If I end up going value, it will make next year's deluxe trip (fingers crossed!) that much better - and hey, I WILL be at Disney!!!

YES! - We have stayed at all levels - Values are great for the *in the parks all the time* kind of trips. Our kids are older (and maybe we are too;)) - so relaxing at the resort is a huge part of our trip. Deluxe is the only way for us now.

I LOVE ASMu! It is beautiful to walk through the rose garden. It is so easy to pick up a meal at the food court. The buses are much better than buses at deluxe resorts! AND the prices just can't be beat for stay in WDW! The pools are fun too!

deluxe resorts are great, but you often have quite a walk to your room in inside corridors. I like the grounds of mods and even value resorts much better actually! Also, the Disney 'feel' is much stronger in the value resorts! Those giant icons just help you believe you are in a Disney movie somehow. Of course, Pop and AoA are perhaps the top dogg here, but the AS resorts have a nostalgia and an energy all their own.

Anywhere staying inside WDW is awesome! You will have a blast!

Thanks for the info on ASMu; never even stepped foot in there before, so I'm trying to read up!

You're right, the Disney "feel" is a lot more pronounced at the values; I'm looking to cut loose and have some fun on this trip after a very stressful year, and plan on spending almost ALL of my time in the parks. I will just miss the wonderful beds and comfy pillows at the deluxes. Especially the beds at YC and the pillows at CR; if I could somehow mix the two and buy them all for my home, I would!!! I stayed at Pop once and really wasn't as impressed as some are, but I love the look of the icons at ASMu and ASMo; wouldn't mind maybe getting over to see AoA...

Yeah, you're right, it will be awesome regardless. As long as I can turn on the TV and see Stacy, I should be good.... Maybe I'll be so tired I won't even notice the beds!

I get it....which is why we keep staying value, for now. ;) DH and I are relatively young and our kids are young. We stay in the parks all day and only come back to the room to crash for naps or bedtime. I don't think we would be able to appreciate the perks of a mod or especially, deluxe. We have always had nice, clean, comfortable rooms at the values. We just love being at WDW! Plus, we're trying to save for retirement. Deluxe resorts can wait!
