I have another ebay question

Sorry, but I'm new to ebay and don't know anyone who uses it. Am I supposed to get an email from the seller after I make a purchase (i did a "buy it now", not an auction)? I haven't heard from her and I'm a little worried because I need my item in two weeks. I read on the community board that lots of people are getting their items late. I need my item in two weeks, or I can't use it. A lot of the seller's feedback said "fast shipping" and she had 100% positive feedback. Is it possible that the item's on the way and I just don't know it?

I have been buying and selling on ebay for over a year; I have sold at least 100 - 125 misc. items from my home and every time I get a payment I will e-mail the individual to let them know I did, in fact, recieve their payment and let them know when I will be mailing out the item. I do indicate in the S & H description that it will be 1-2 days after payment is made; I always pay the extra 55 cents for delivery confirmation and then I will e-mail the buyer and let them know it was mailed as well as giving them the confirmation number so they can track it.
You should e-mail the buyer and confirm that payment was recieved and just politely ask when it will be mailed out - let us know how you make out.

Thanks for your response! Well I emailed her and she wrote back that they were sent out on Wednesday. I tracked them on UPS and should get here on Tuesday! In plenty of time for my cruise!!!! Yay!!

I've had that happen several times when I purchase with buy it now. I hate it when they don't acknowledge your payment or let you know they've shipped. A little communication on the part of the seller would go a long way. :(

As a seller, I don't contact my buyers w/ a shipment date. I sell on the average about 45-65 items per week. The volume is just too high to contact each one w/ shipping info.

I also don't send out the shipment info, but I mail the very next day 90% of the time, and I try and do the feedback ASAP as well.

I haven't heard from her and I'm a little worried because I need my item in two weeks.

In the future I would suggest writing the seller to make sure they can fulfill specific delivery time frame requests. Some sellers only ship once or twice a week. I inevitably get people asking where their items are a couple of days after they have paid-even though I've sent shipping confirmations with estimated delivery times.
They bid before realizing I am shipping from outside the US and customs is involved and delivery standards are different.

On a side note: I've found the mail coming and going to the US painfully slow the last few weeks.

Thank you from a Canadian perspective. We bought something from a buyer and in his auction didn't state he was from Canada. If something was mailed from Montreal to the Philadelphia PA area, how long would it take? He has a confirmation number, but I don't know how to check it.

We're hitting close to a month, and I'd hate to have to pull a Paypal dispute on him. I want my money to be protected as well.

Thanks

epcotfan took the words right out of my mouth (fingers?). If you must have an item by a certain, relatively soon time, you should really ask the seller if that's possible BEFORE you bid. Since it's too late for that, you could share the info now and hope for the best. They might make a special effort to ship quickly. If it's just not possible, you may just be stuck with the item. You can give it away or resell it on eBay if you can no longer use it.

And it is, of course, possible that it will show up in your mailbox today. Some are better than others about keeping you posted on the status.

Hi Cindy,
I ship all my things via airmail and things that normally take 2 weeks are taking much longer. In some instances 4+. Even mailed payments are taking over two weeks via lettermail.
Your package could be stuck in Customs. Processing packages through customs has been really slow lately. In fact Canada Customs was recently on strike. I recently had a package from the US take 5 weeks to get to me.

I'm not sure how you didn't know your seller was from Canada? Did they have United States listed as their "item location" ?
When you look at an auction ad you should the seller's location under their username and feedback on the auction page:
For example:

Item location: (city/province)
Canada
Ships to: Worldwide

or something like this:

USERID ( 198)
Feedback Score: 198
Positive Feedback: 100%
Member since Dec-16-99 in Canada

Hope this helps and best of luck on your package. I'm sure it will arrive soon.
