I have always wondered . . .

We waited in line for 2 hours when Indy opened up. We were young and crazy! :rotfl:

We don't wait that long anymore. We love FastPass. The most I would wait would be 30 minutes for TSMM or Peter Pan (non FastPass rides). But we never wait longer than that if the ride has FastPass. Never.

20 minutes max for us. Maybe it sneaks up to 30 once in a while.

The one exception is PFF. My girls were young and into pricesses and only I waited in line while DH took them out and about. That was what most people in line were doing - having one parent wait and so no one minded the last minute "cutting" of the children.

I had my book and so it was no big deal. I think the posted waiting time was 50 minutes.

Hi Molly! We're going to Orlando in October and spending some time at Universal for HP, too. Bree is a big fan of the books. I may bite the bullet and buy the FOTL pass - on a Tuesday in mid Oct it is only $20 each. Have a great trip. :)

Very cool! Problem with the FOTL pass, or the pass you get by staying there onsite, is that it's been said that the HP rides won't be included in it. :headache:

I have an AP, so if I want to ride something bad enough, I'll wait till the line is shorter. No way would I spend more than 45 minutes waiting.

You have an AP *and* you live in so cal. We had APs for two years, but we live in WA, so while we went relatively often, we would never entirely pass something up b/c of a long line, because we couldn't just come back the next week.

Forgot...we've waited around 40 minutes for almost every time we've ridden TSMM. And it's been totally absolutely and completely worth it each and every time!

The Rocket Rods!!! I totally forgot about that, but I do remember standing in a REALLY long line for that. I can't remember how long, but it was at least an hour or so.

I recall waiting for the Dumbo ride at WDW as a kid. I think we probably waited an hour or two for it. I wasn't very old but my parents still bring it up. So not worth it. I won't do that for my future children. :lmao:

These days 45 minutes is usually the max. Some rides I'm willing to wait and hour-ish for (like Space Mountain, Indiana Jones, etc.) But I have to have a lot of time to kill and be in a good mood.

When Nemo opened, we waited the 3 hours :scared1: But they had CM's handing out the cutest activity page with fun things to do, so my kids didn't complain too much about the long wait.

We must be spoiled now because if the wait is longer than 20 minutes, we will pass on it and try again next time.

Longest line I've ever seen was Indiana Jones the first few weeks it opened. Line was 4 1/2 hours long and stretched all the way back to Small World. We did not wait. Instead we got there for early entry the next morning and waited 15 mins. When we exited it was already over 2 hours and growing.

In the early 1980's Space Mountain was often well over 2 hours. Thats back when there was an escalator up to the upper deck concourse. The line stretched back to Star Tours.

Ok, how did Indiana Jones stretch all the way to Small World??:confused3 I'm just not getting the logistics here...and YIKES!

I too also forgot about Rocket Rods. I did go on that ride, can't even remember it but I do remember the wait. Ugh, the wait! However I will say that it was NOT 3 hours, maybe more like 1 1/2, so I guess this would be one of the longest lines I've waited in. Count me in, I lied on my earlier post too.:rolleyes1

Anyone know how long Rocket Rods was actually at DL? I remember the hype and the que, funny that I remember the que but not the actually ride. It was this big indoor circle that winded around and around, I thought I would never reach the end. And there was this bluish/greenish tint to the entire room, odd. You could see the railroad pass through if I'm remembering correctly and they had the ride vehicles behind glass. Geez, how weird is it that I remember ALL this and absolutely nothing about the ride! That tells you how memorable it was I guess.

According to Yesterland (I can't put up a link since my post count is low), it looks like they were only around May 1998 - September 2000.

I do not, but I will wait for an hour and a half (so just under 2). We did that for the Nemo ride on our last trip. I mainly wanted to see what all the hype was about.

Wiki concurs.

May 22, 1998 (my bday!) - September 25, 2000

The line stretched out through Adventureland and into Frontierland all the way to Small World. They had CM's at numerous spots along the line allowing for gaps to allow cross traffic through.

Thats partly true. Rocket Rods were open a few days in May 1998 then parts of some days every now and then for the next two years! lol

Holy Line from Hell Batman!:scared1:

At least Indy is ALMOST worth that wait......... if my memory serves me.....

I can't even see how the line Indiana Jones would go back that far. Crazy.

When Pirates reopened with Jack Sparrow added, the line went back past Big Thunder (past where that french fry stand was) but it actually moved really quickly.

Wow, I can not believe that Indy went all the way to Small World, THAT is insane!! DBF and I are two very impatient people and won't wait in a line longer than 20 minutes. Instead we go around the park getting as many FP's as possible and we ride everything at once at night when we have all of our FP's saved up. So fun! :goodvibes Throughout the day we ride the usually short-lined rides and go to DCA because most of the lines there are never too bad. We don't ride the ride if it just opened. We waited a while after TSMM to open and went on Nemo the first time in.. February I think?

So, off topic, but is this new DCA Mermaid thing going to be a ride? I thought one of the signs said something about a band so I was a little confused. I got so excited to see supports for a ride when I was riding Screamin' and can't wait to see what Carsland is going to be like!

OK, I need to know, from those who have said they won't wait longer than 20 or 30 minutes, how do you ever go on any rides? I have been in short lines before, but that was back when we were able to go at times with very low crowd levels - now that the kids are in school, it's only peak season for us. If I refused to wait in a line longer than 20 minutes, I'd never ride anything! (Not having FPs for TSMM is a killer with a 4 and 5 year old - and a DH.) ;)
