Is it just me or does there seem to be a real shortage of MALE scrapbookers?????

I actually do my pages during down time while on ambulance shifts. But it seems like not many men are involved in the hobby. When ever I see pics of groups there isnt any guys. I dont think my pages are as good as many of yours but I enjoy doing them and they do look pretty good.

Anyway I will keep doing them even if I am the only one!

Maybe some guys don't think it's "manly" to scrapbook but maybe if they think of it as "preserving" for future generations it would be something they might try.
You my friend are a unique individual! :teeth:

:woohoo: I think it's cool that you scrap. :woohoo: My DH couldn't cut in a straight line if he had to! :rolleyes1 Welcome and come play often! :welcome:

I agree that male scrappers are rare. I wonder if that's because so many scrapping products are definitely geared toward women - lots of "girly" patterns and colors. My husband loves to look at my scrapbooks and is a great source of encouragement for me but I don't think he's have the patience to sit and actually work on something.

I think it's fantastic that you scrap and I'd love to see some of your layouts!

I was a target buying some scrapping stuff from the dollar spot and the male check out clerk told me he did scrapbooks. He's the only one I've ever met!

My uncle doesn't exactly scrap, but he does keep up the family photo album with short descriptions under each picture. Hmmmm...wonder if I can get him into it!

My daddy does it a little but he's more into the digital scrapbooking. I did see one man at SDV Orlando, he was scrapping with his wife and daughter. I think it's cool when men try something creative like scrapping. DH would never do it, but he appreciates that I am creating scrapbooks for us.

Thanks for the replies. I have been working a bunch of hours lately and all my books are at home but I will take a few pics to share soon and post them.

My DH scraps - he is also a photographer though so he is rather artistic. I don't think there is anything at all wrong with men scrapbooking.
Being creative can be "manly".

I think it is great that you scrapbook - I also think it would be great if you could get your co-workers to do the same - or at least understand their wive's love of the art (assuming their significant others scrap).

I did notice the 1 guy at SDV Orlando that JandJ mentioned, but when I was at CKC Valley Forge, there was a bunch of men going to classes. The majority of people there were women, but there was a couple of dozen guys there.

I have never met a guy scrapbooker. I really want my brother to come scrapbook with me but he just doesnt want to. I have also asked one of my customers about it and he said it took too much time. I found this the other day and i thought it was awsome http://www.scrappedmovie.com/index.html i want to see this move so BAD! I really think my brother would be great at it. My DH supports it but i think that if he started scrapbooking we would run out of pictures lol!

DH is a fly-by scrapper. He'll walk passed a page I'm doing and pull out papers and move things around. I would really love to do a Circle Journal or a couples swap (yes I know how that sounds, get your minds out of the gutter ladies!! :lmao: ).

DH did a page for my other Circle Journal group and it turned out really cool!
There is a guy who wrote a documentary about scrapping and it was supposed to poke fun at it but he actually enjoyed the experience. At least that's what he said in his article in Scrapbook Answers Magazine.
Here's a link, it would be interesting to see either way:

I have a friend on a message board that scraps and he is adored by all of the ladies on it. He does some awesome stuff.

DH will help me with layouts (put that there, that color looks better, but will not actually sit and do it with me.) Bummer, he is much more artistic than me.

DS loves to pick out stuff for me to do, but refuses to scrapbook. Of course, he would have to sit still and that is impossible.

My 15 year old DS is a VERY talented scrapbooker - much better than me, in fact. He would love to attend some crops and conventions and such but won't because of the female to male ratio! Maybe when he is older he will be more secure about it and less concerned about what "the guys" might think.

There was just an article in one of the parenting magazines that talked about the lack of male scrappers and of course I forget what the exact % of scrappers are males but it was REALLY low. They compared scrapping to being the modern quilting bee...again another female dominated activity.

Personally, I don't trust DH with the camera...let alone my scrapbooks :rotfl:

I think your pages are great!! Thanks for sharing!! I am attempting my first Disney scrapbook after our upcoming trip!!

Okay, I do agree about the camera, (and since I won't let him use it, when he actually does, the photos are not the best) but I wouldn't mind him scrapbooking. In fact, I would love it. We have been together 17 years, and there are tons of photos to do. Thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands...

I went to CM Showcase last year and I met a guy who is a CMC and he was in his mid 20's I'd say. I asked him how he got into it he said he hunted and camped a lot of places and he wanted to keep the memories in a nice album so he started scrapping and soon after became a CMC. I think I can count on one hand how many man I saw that week there. Nancy
