I have a question about modifying my Delta flight for a second time online.

I keep getting this error message,

Oh no! We're sorry, but we are unable to process this request online. Please contact Delta Reservations at 1-800-221-1212 for assistance.

So...I've been calling every day, like everyone else, and have been put on hold.

One time, I received an offer for a callback, but I was asleep at 2 am when they called and I didn't hear my phone ring.

So I am still calling...and still on hold as long as I can every day. And I still trying to modify my Delta flight online unsuccessfully every day.

I have tried different Delta phone numbers with the same result.

My round trip was modified the first time online with Delta's "modify my trip" on February 25, 2020, and the round trip cost was modified to make the new oneway trip, less cost difference, but added $200.00 required Delta service fee to change flights

I have been able to stay in PCB, FL instead of home. I've been trying to avoid getting out and about since I might be vulnerable to being at high risk because I am 69 years old and diabetic. I can't drive and I'm solo with no family which makes it more difficult.

Can anyone suggest a better way for me to make a change other than what I am doing?

Do you think I might be refunded the $200.00 service fee from my first Delta modified flight on February 25, 2020?

Do you think I should cancel my first Delta modified flight and just buy a new ticket?

But I would possibly forfeit what I paid and cost changes.

Any suggestions?

When is your flight? If within the next week, I'd call as soon as I get up in the morning. If it's more than a week out, I'd wait and call closer to the time.

I would call first thing in the morning (that way you can either schedule a return call or wait it out). If I could wake up, I even try calling at 5am ET. Thinking/hoping most of the US isn't up and maybe I'd reach someone.

I can only imagine how swamped they are. I've put two calls into my company's help desk since last night. Haven't gotten a call back on either of them.

That's why I am not upset because of those folks probably don't get a break and must be so stressed

I'm lucky to be retired now from Northside Hospital because of how busy everyone says it has been. I loved working, but I just couldn't keep up at my age.

I called Delta yesterday afternoon. I was interested in booking flight. Total time was 72 minutes. Called at 2:00 in the afternoon. Good luck.

I was on hold for 2-hours and 2-minutes and I heard a voice call my name from my phone and I almost jumped out of my chair while I was watching TV.

I was able to make the second modification to my return Delta flight to Atlanta on May 1, 2020, for $80.05.

I don't know if I got credit for my first modification in February for a Delta Service Charge of $200.00.

But my Delta receipt this time showed $0.00 for a Delta Service Charge.

I didn't ask a second time because I was so happy to hear someone on the phone to help me and it only cost me $80.05.

The person I talked to sounded very calm and relaxed. He was very helpful and knowledgeable, too. I gave him five stars on the survey after our conversation ended.

Update:
I was contacted by Delta via Messaging yesterday and also today to see if I could get a refund from a Delta Modification Service Charge of $200.00 that I made on my first Delta online modified ticket.

My final bill for that change was $120.10. So they said they will send me a refund check for $120.10.

I wasn't charged the Delta Modification Service Charge of $200.00 for my second and final ticket change that also made by phone from a different Delta agent.

I don't know if it was a coincidence or not that the second Delta agent contacted a few hours later via Messaging to answer my questions about the Delta Modification Service Charge of $200.00 was made by the previous agent.

I don't know if the second agent was responding from a Delta Survey or a Delta Twitter message or from the other Delta agent.

Every Delta agent was very helpful, calm and professional so many customers trying to make their own changes.

I presume the $120.10 refund was the balance of the total charges and adjustments instead of $200.00. It still meant that with the refund, I did not have to pay for my modification for my return trip.

I didn't want to fly back with the COVID-19 risk since I met several risk factors and I can't drive.
