Here's the situation....

1. I preordered the Photopass before our trip

2. We went to WDW and had a lovely time and had a few (100) photos taken with photopass.

3. Since our return, I've been working on "embellishing" most of the photos.

My question is this....

When you get the Cd, can you tell which of the photos are set up for 5x7 and which ones are set up for 4x6?

(It was my understanding that I should save the copy in the 4x6 format for better printing.)

Any thoughts or ideas are welcome. I have a couple of weeks yet before I actually order the Cd, so I thought I'd ask here.

Thanks!

I don't think they are 'set' for a particular size - they are generally moderately high res, and you would order your prints from wherever you like, in whatever sizes you like. If you've zoomed way in on a detail, it might print better in a smaller size, but it's not pre-set for a particular size. That you do when you order prints from Shutterfly or Walgreens or print them on your own printer. Most places will tell you if the photo is not high enough res to support the size you're trying to order - but generally I've found with the PP shots, you can order up to 16x20 with no worries.

The CD itself has no way to distinguish between a 5x7, 4x6, 8x10. That being said, it is fairly easy to tell if you upload both to your printing site as they will tell you if you need to crop. Or, if you did the same crop for multiple sizes, looking at them will show which one is which based on the cropping.

The original unembellished shots, yes. Doesn't matter, your photo site will tell you if you need to crop. HOWEVER, many of the "frame" embellishments, I.E. the ones that go around the whole image, will only print correctly in the size you do the editing. Otherwise you will end up cropping off part of the embellishment "frame". Think of watching a widescreen movie on a regular non-widescreen tv. You either end up cropping off the left/right, smooshing the image so it all fits, or the black bars on the top bottom. Same thing will need to happen if you try to print a 5x7 as a 4x6 or vice versa.
If you just have a "spot" embellishment, I.E. character signature, the year on the bottom, you can usually print any size and just crop as needed.
As soon as you start zooming in on the original image you lose quality if you try to bring it back up when printing. So zooming in on Cinderella giving you DD that kiss will print out good on a 5x7 or 4x6, but trying to print that zoom as a 16x20, not gonna look so hot. If you ever zoomed all the way in when editing look at the final result, you can see that it is starting to get pixelated, even at a 4x6 size.
