Dh just gave me an early Christmas gift, a digital camera for our upcoming trip. I know nothing about them. It came with one film cartridge and he bought an extra one. Is there a place in Disney to develop these? And from what he was told you can reuse these when you develop?

Ill take any help you will offer me Thanks;)

Well, you don't really "develope" digital pictures, you just print them out. I don't know if there's a place at WDW that does it or not. I use this great thing called Ofoto . You can upload your digital pictures to their webpage and invite friends and family to see them. Then you or anyone else you invited to see the pictures can order just about any size prints you want. It's pretty cool.

any of the kodak places that do pictures can develop your pictures. what i personally suggest is taking to kodak place at park, have them burn( transfer) on cd for you and just taking cd to walmart or some place like that upon return home it saves money. i know off top my head the emporium in mk on main street does this other places exsist i'm sure just can't think right now.

We bought an Epson picture printer and took it with us. We printed some pictures in our room every night and it is real simple to use. HP also makes a smaller one that might be more convenient to take on vacation. It can't print 8x10's and such.

We're still throwbacks to our old 35mm. Will the printer dyes used in the printing of digital pics hold up as well over time as 35mm prints????

Ohh Eros good question. I know color copies ive made on my computer didnt hold up to good. Im curious about that answer too. These Disney pics are always important!!;)

So Fire12, They will burn them to a disk and I can then take more pics? Is that true? Im just really used to regular 35mm as well. I took tons of film/pics on our last trip. Do you think im fin with the 2 inserts for the camera? Thanks

Chell, did you have them burned in Disney and then copy them? You werent worried about damaging your printer while traveling?

yes the kodak place will take your camera disk and transfer the files over to a cd. you will than have to delete pictures of your camera disk to go take more. and yes you can than take cd to walmart or someplace simaliar and they will print pictures from the cd for you.

With the printer we used you can print them directly from the card. We didn't get a CD burned there because we didn't fill up either card. I burned a CD when I got home.

We packed the printer very well and were not concerned about it.

I'm not sure about that since we have only had the pictures since September. We do use photo quality ink and paper. When I get our the photos you can't tell which ones we printed at home and which were from our 35mm as far as the quality of the pictures goes.

That depends greatly on the size of the memory cards. If they're two 8-MB cards that is extremely different than for instance if they're two 128-MB cards, since the later would hold 16 times more pictures. Two 8-MB cards... no, probably wouldn't be enough for most DISers... two 128-MB cards might do it however, depending on what resolution you are taking the pictures at. (The greater the resolution you set the camera to, the more space each picture takes on the card... however, the better the resolution the better the picture quality so you have to weigh quality with quantity.)

As far as qaulity, if you use photo paper and print at maximum quality it should last as long as regular 35mm prints...as long as you know how to take care of them. If you put them in albums they will be just fine. If you keep them sealed in a container or something, they'll be fine too. If you frame them, still good. But if you just leave them laying out, they're subject to fading just like 35mm prints. I had to learn this stuff when I worked at a portrait studio if you're wondering how I know :)

We don't take printers with us on vacation, but DH takes his laptop and at the end of each day he puts the pics on the laptop. When we get home, we burn them to a disc. To me, that's the only way to make sure your pictures last a "lifetime". You don't have to worry about loosing a picture here or there because they're all in the same place. In fact, we're thinking about getting that fairly new Sony digital camera that burns the images directly on to a CD. The Sony we have now puts them on a floppy disc.

Eros,
The machine used to print the pictures from digital is the same as from 35 mm. The machine I used was a digital machine and the quality of digital (assuming it was something more than 2 mp) was equal to that of the 35 mm. The prints have the same life.

I hope this answer was what you were asking.
