He's driving out (about 40 miles round trip) and will be cutting tree branches and sweeping out the gutters on the roof.

What's a good price to pay him to include gas money?

thanks!

$10 an hour. Feed him a good lunch. Make sure you have a good ladder, I doubt he has his own insurance.

Even when I was in college, this was miserable (I'm only 26). Depends on how big your house is and how much work is involved, I'd say 100-125 for the whole day.

For 10 dollars an hour, I think I would have put all the leaves back in your gutters. :rotfl:

How long do you think it will take? 1 hour? 2 hours?

Is it freezing cold outside?

I drive 40 miles round-trip to visit my parents, and I doubt I spend $5 worth of gas. My parents have trucks, and when they come here, I doubt they spend $5 on gas, either.

Make sure he is CAREFUL on your roof if it is the least bit icy, and in general. Now is a good time to remember if you have an umbrella policy ;) :rotfl:

I'd say, if it takes 2 hours or more, $125.

i would figure around $10-12 an hour. with maybe a 3-4 hour minimum to ensure i gave him $40-50, but anymore than this and i would do it myself.
I would assume this is just someone looking to make a couple bucks, not someone with a licensed/bonded lawncare business or any overhead, so I definately wouldn't want to pay him the same as i would someone who is licensed/bonded, if he damages your house or gets hurt your on the hook. with that kind of gamble I want things cheap.

it took about three hours - he cut down a lot of tree branches and cleaned out the gutters. i took him to lunch and gave him $100. it was worth it. and he was happy.

That sounds more than fair to me. :thumbsup2

I probably could have made him do the dishes too before he left!!:goodvibes
