Chef Mickey's is inside the Contemporary Resort. Which is a short monorail ride away from the Magic Kingdom. You can also walk there, it takes around 8 minutes or so.
Inside the MK, we enjoy Crystal Palace. My daughter is 12 and that has been a favorite of hers for years. Its a character buffet that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and the Pooh Bear characters are there. We like the food, its pretty in there and the characters are fun.
Your daughter might also love eating inside the castle at Cinderella's Royal Table. That one has princesses obviously but its very pricey.
There are also a few places that don't have characters:
Liberty Tree Tavern which is good for lunch (lunch is not a buffet and has sandwiches and salads and a few entrees) and has an all you can eat family style Thanksgiving dinner (ham, turkey, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese).
Tony's: Italian food for lunch and dinner. This one has Lady and the Tramp theming.
Plaza: Sandiwiches, soups and salads and wonderful desserts. Very reasonable place.
You can check out menus for those and all other WDW restaurants at:
www.allearsnet.com That site really helps me plan my meals and budget.
Hope that helps! Have fun, a first trip to WDW is very exciting!
