My mom and biological dad got married at a young age. My mom came to terms with her true orientation and then separated from my dad. My dad lives in the same town as me, so I see him often and he is very involved in my life.
But I gotta say, growing up with two moms is the best thing that could have happened to me! I am naturally more open to change and my moms and i always have so much fun together. It's a house full of Gilmore Girls
Even though I did get teased at times (kids can be brutal) I knew in my heart that love is love and there isn't anything anyone can say to object to that!
My first WDW trip with my moms was amazing! I love Disney World so much. I noticed a few people staring at my moms holding hands, and even though some people were noticably awkward around us, the magic of Disney wouldn't alter the fun that we had.
So I must say more power to the Gays and Lesbians who wish to share the magic of Disney! It is truly a wonderful place and a place where love and respect are very much practiced. If you feel uncomfortable showing affections in public, not to worry. Everyone has their own comfort zone - gay or straight. But I urge you to not be ashamed of who you are and let your true colors show in Disney. Although some people may turn the other cheek, the world is changing. If more people come out and show the world that love is love, changes can be made. I'm pretty sure adoption for gays and lesbians is illegal in Florida. I re-play a scenario in my mind that if for some reason my mom would want to adopt me, and we lived in Florida, she wouldn't be able to obtain custody. It's very sad. Why can't she be called my mother just because she is a lesbian? Of course it turned out well for me - she does have custody over me and is recognized so by law.
I'm sorry if I'm ranting but I don't see many gay and lesbian couples during my trips to WDW and I would love to see more.
Any other kids with two moms or two dads out there that went to Disney?
