I hate wind chimes. Who else hates them?

I'm am so unbelievably irritated. My upstairs neighbors have put a giant wind chime on their balcony. And I mean GIANT. Not one of those little ones you see in gift stores. It is huge. It keeps waking me up all night long!!! Everytime there is the slightest breeze it wakes me up. We've had some pretty nasty weather here too, so it clanks around a lot. Why they put it out in the dead of winter I have no idea? It is too cold out to go on the balcony to sit and supposedly enjoy "the sounds" so I don't know why they put it out there?
:crazy2:  Who else hates wind chimes? :scared:

 They seriously annoy me, too. You're not alone.

Could you talk to your neighbor?

I don't like them much either....something eerie about them. I do have a tiny one that my SIL gave me. It's a little frog chime and you can barely hear it. :)

I suffer from migraines so they are my worst nightmare I have cute Mickey one in my back yard but I flipped the metal over the frame so it does not make noise. ;)

tough question - I don't know what I hate more, the actual windchime or the idiot neighbor who has them. They seem to go hand in hand in my neighborhood. [no offense meant for DIS Windchimers, I'm only speaking of the ones who live around me]

There was a thread similar to this one not too long ago and I think the better question would be, who does like them?

Add me to your list of people who doesn't like them.

Can not STAND them... I thought I was the only one!

I was house sitting my Mom's a few years back & she had a huge one on the porch... I actually had to take it down because I'd go crazy!

Hate them!! I hate that metal pinging noise in the middle of the night!!!

I HATE THEM. I get horrible headaches and I hate the sound of bells. Its enough to make me crazy.

Ditto

I think all but the tiny ones should be illegal

Yeah, I'm not sure how to proceed with this. I don't know whether to go to the super or to leave them a polite note. I don't know these people at all. I do know in the summer they make a $$&(*$$#$^ ton of noise on their balcony. I'm afraid if I pursue this they'll just get noisier.

 I love them! They remind me of the beach. Sorry they annoy so many. :(

LOVE THEM and so does my dh. He has probably 10-15 sets but the only time we hear them is when there is a ton of wind. They are on our back area and I guess the house blocks the sounds too much. Storms and hurricane winds are great for them!!

ARRGHH! That's one of my biggest pet peeves! My neighbor's stupid windchime! I can't sleep with my window open because of it and if it's really windy and I can hear it from inside. Drives me NUTS! :headache:

I actually love wind chimes and had many of them set up. My husband recently removed them and I asked why. Well, you can't hear them any longer and they really are annoying to others people when it is windy. So my windchimes are now in the house for me to look at but not out where the bother others.

I love them, but I also respect my neighbors too. I'd never hang chimes where they'd bother anyone.

Needless to say, I don't have any, and I wouldn't, unless I lived in the country.

put them in the house. my grandma did this, and there was no wind so they didn't bother me.

Boy, I wish my neighbors would show respect around here! I'd much rather listen to a windchime than their loud barking dogs all night long!!!
