I'm so sorry for your loss. I had a d&c as well after my miscarriage. We took a trip to Savannah the following weekend. I really didn't want to be in my house. It helped me to get away. I was tired after the surgery, but I don't know if that was from the surgery or more likely, a little bit of depression.

The procedure itself is not hard to recover from physically. I too had to have one between sons 2 and 3. I had it the day before my wedding. Went to a rehersal that night, married Sat then off to Hawaii on Sunday.

My throat was very sore after the surgery. Pace yourself for the next couple of weeks.

I'm so sorry - this exact thing happened to me a few years ago. I was in my 20th week. It's was harder for me emotionally than physically, so you may find that going on your trip would be a welcome change. You could always take it at a very easy pace. Lots of hugs, P & PD coming your way.

It may be too late for this info, but there is also a form of anestetic (sp) called "twilight" sleep. It's not general, there's no intubation, they don't put you all the way "under". But believe me, you sleep soundly. I've had it twice for two different surgeries (because I was nervous about general anestetic), and it was wonderful. I never knew anything was going on, and afterwards, no "hang-over", no sore throat. Perhaps you could ask about this.
