One of my close friends was diagnosed with melenama several years ago She had a mole removed and hope that was the end of it. Unfortantly in March she found a lump in her groin area. Had surgery and they found 3 nodes were cancer. She then started looking for treatment option and was headed for a clinical trial in Virginia. She had to have one more test. A cat scan and unfortunately it showed the cancer had spread to her liver, spleen and one lung and spots in the other. She had this same test in March and it was clear so this is a very fast moving demon Another test just revealed her ovaries are enlarged and she is going for an ultra sound tomorrow and a PET scan. I am going with her. She has 2 small children 7 and 4. I pray for my friend. She has to make some of the hardest choices of her life. Which course of treatment. They all come with advantages and disadvantages and each doctor feels they can help her the best.
I know you dear DIS people are so kind with your warm wishes. So if you get the chance and can think for just a moment I would appreciate this.
Thanks,
Sondra

Sending a prayer for your friend.

Oh my. Of course, prayers are on their way. Keep us posted.

Hugs for her and for you. Be there for her, she is sure to need a friend to lean on, a very invaluable comodity. My thoughts and prayers are with her. Please let us know how she does.

Prayers on the way.

I'm thinking of making an appt. for a skin cancer screening. Everyone should think of having one.

I'm sorry to hear that. My prayers are with her and her family.:(

My SIL's DH died from melanoma. It was very aggressive and he was 36 yrs. old at the time (1986). There are probably better options today, as far as treatment goes. You're being a good friend to her. {{hugs}}

I hate to ask,

I suppose it'll be alright just this once! ;)

It's not a problem at all to throw one more prayer into the mix.
We had a dear friend who died from cancer last year. He was very young (30's) and had a 6yr boy. He loved kids and couldn't wait until they could have a child. That was one of the saddest things about his situation. Tell your friend to hang in there that we are praying for her and her family. I know she'll pick that right treatment option just tell her to go with her heart and her gut feeling. She's probably in for a bumpy ride, she just needs to be strong.

Sondra, how very sad. Melanoma is, indeed, a fast moving demon.

I will keep your friend in my prayers. I hope they can find a successful treatment. You are a good friend to care so much. {{{HUGS}}}

:( Lots of prayers and PD on the way for your dear friend. I hope everything turns out o.k., we will pray for her and her family.

My prayers are with her, her family and all her loved ones.

Always a great place to lean on, Sondra, the DIS is. My prayers are with your friend in the days and weeks ahead, some tough ones for sure. God bless her, and you too, a good friend you are.

Prayers and Pixie Dust for your friend, her children and you (for being SUCH a good friend).

:(

Thanks everyone for your kind words. This is a wonderful board and people.

I will say a prayer for your friend.

Prayers and PD for your friend, Sondra. For you also. It's tough to see a friend face such a serious thing. My doctor had skin cancer on his face. I think his surgeon butchered him, but he's doing fine now.
