I hate the new search function!

The search function is now useless. You can't find posts for a member, and you are lucky if it actually returns anything when you enter a search phrase.

That's great. Now we can see 20 posts a day on where to buy crocs.

The DIS operates on servers paid for, in part, by advertising and, in part, by sponsorship. Search capability is limited by the available hardware. If the DIS had unlimited hardware, they probably could support the old Search capability. The more folks who sponsor the site, the better our service can be. While your personal site sponsorship might not restore the Search capability, I bet every little bit helps.

What I noticed in this thread is that, as far as I can see from the avatar panes of the messages posted by those complaining about the current Search capability, none of you have sponsored the site! Please consider site sponsorship, if you really enjoy the DIS and want to help make it better.

if you click on the persons name in a thread it gives you the option of finding all posts by that member

actually it doesn't - it only gives the threads started by the person - that's why I'm so frustrated b/c it USED to give all of the threads!

I liked it the old way, too - where you could see all threads not just the ones started by someone.

AND, before, you could also search for something that you now kwas said in a particular thread by using "search this thread". It was very helpful on the budget board since we have a thread that is over 3600 posts long about demo work some of us do. Often, we've needed to find info IN THAT THREAD.....and now we can't. Once, I even I was the one who said something, knew it was in that thread, & still couldn't find it without going back MONTHS & MONTHS worth of pages to approximately when I knew I posted it...and start reading until I found it.

I think a Sponsorship Drive would work better when features are working right. Its kind of hard to get inspired to donate $ when things aren't working - ESPESCIALLY search on a site this large.

I've been TRYING to use Google to find stuff by entering: SplshMtn99 Disboards. But that isn't finding everything either.

Use the following syntax:

SpshMtn99 site:disboards.com

That's more precise in its filtering.

I'd rather see it go to a paid subscription than a suggested donation.

Of course that would cut the "viewership" down dramatically & the site sponsors wouldn't have such a wide audience to ply their wares.
