I Hate Snow

I couldn't agree more!!! I live in the South for Gosh sakes and my DS8 has missed like five days of school. (Fortunately for him, they have about 10 snow days built in, or he might miss our cruise...;) ). The kids were out of school again today. Our problem is that we are literally at the foot of the Smoky Mts., so if the mountains get snow, the kids in the valley miss school too.

Please Spring, come quickly!

WELL I AGREE ON THE HATING SNOW!!! BOTH DD AND DS HAVE BEEN OUT OF SCHOOL SINCE LAST TUES. DUE TO ILLNESS (STOMACH VIRUS AND BRONCHITAS?sp?)AT ALL THE SCHOOLS. THEY WERE OUT 2 DAYS THE WEEK BEFORE. THEY DIDN'T HAVE SCHOOL TODAY BECAUSE OF 4 INCHES OF SNOW AND IT IS SNOWING NOW AND EXPECT 1-2 INCHES MORE AND OF COURSE NO SCHOOL TOMORROW AND... THEY ARE ALREADY OUT WED.!!! I AM REALLY GETTING TIRED OF THE SNOW AND THE VIRUS. REALLY NEED A CRUISE FIX! :bounce:

Well, my feeling about it is.....if it's going to snow then SNOW! Instead we had like.....NOTHING....but heard we were having a storm for 24 hours straight.

Ok, I'm in....THINK SPRING!

Had to get up at 6am to dig out for work today.

Add to my list not only do I hate snow but I hate the psychotic plow driver that waits for me to finish and giggles as he plows in the end of my driveway again!

I shovelled last night after dinner and now I have to go get the remaining up off the sidewalk and driveway.

This year hasn't been so bad with DH but several years ago we had ALOT of snow and everytime it snowed he was away. I was ready for a divorce then. The other parents at DS's school knew everytime he was away because of the snow.

I want to share the most amazing thing I saw in the snow yesterday. Perhaps this will help you all not hate snow so much. I was waiting for the kids to get off the bus yesterday with my neighbor and snow was falling. I noticed as they landed that each one looked like a star- really, just like those metallic confetti stars you can buy. It was so amazing- big ones, little ones, clumps of them. I couldn't believe what was falling from the sky. My jacket was covered with these beautiful stars! Sometimes you've gotta sit back and admire nature!

They are forcasting snow for tonight and tomorrow. Worst part is we haven't had a snow day yet!!!!! Even worse is after the snow it is supposed to get COLD!!! Saturday is supposed to be the coldest day of the year. -10 on the coast and -20 or colder parts inland. I am hoping the forcast has changed since this morning.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

Here too :( This is getting way outta hand! Supossed to be ten below tonight without adding in the windchill!

This morning we had mini blizzard...snowing like crazy and sticking for about 10 minutes then the sun came out.....but wow did it get windy.....had all our recycleables out at the curb for pick-up and just looked out the window and they were blowing all over the street and yard....had to go out and pick them all up!!! I am really looking forward to spring!!

We had the same snow shower. It got so dark. I was getting ready to take DH to school. I'M SO SICK OF SNOW. Now they are saying more for tomorrow night and possibly Sunday.:(

More snow tomorrow night and again on Sunday. Will it every end?

You know it's really a sad state of affairs when your 8 yo wakes up, sees that it's snowing, and groans. There is no joy in Snowville.

Between the snow, the cold and the plague going around our schools, my entire town needs Prozac.

Here too :( snow, snow, everywhere snow. We are having a tough year!! I will tell you though, I am having a GREAT skiing winter :teeth: Last year was a terrible year for skiing, not this year. I don't mind too much if there is snow in winter, it is when the snow continues into March and April. that's when I get mad   !!!
Happy shoveling everyone!!

Okay, they just updated the forcast for DC this weekend ....
18" of blowing and drifting snow. I looked on weather.com and it looks like it will snow from tonight though Monday.....oh my.

Imagine, my DH just called and told me to stop at the store to buy bread...forget it, I will bake my own bread, that will take less time than going to the grocery now.

We have no idea of what to do with snow in DC in the first place.

Since we moved to Indiana (UGH!), I've had to shovel/blow a whole 3 times in as many years! Never once last year, as we were in Boston when we had our only snow (3.5 inches. Shut the city down from what I hear.). This year I heard it snowed like crazy Dec. 24th. We were in FL. Then again in Jan. We were on the MAGIC. (No complaints there!) Only the first year we were here, did we have any real snow. Today, we were supposed to get 6-10. So, I did what I always do. I cleaned up the yard, fed the birds, cleaned the garage (they sand our streets! Wreaks havoc on my floors!) and waited for the snow. And, as usual, NO SNOW! Maybe an inch they say!

Ann. I'd trade places with you any day!

Snowless in IN!

There is one thing I hate more than snow -- and that is this COLD!It was -17 at my house this morning. Yes, that's a minus sign. No, that's not the wind chill -- it's the temperature! And yes, that is Farenheidt, not Celsius! BRRRRR.

I've been sick since we got home from the Wonder/WDW. Yesterday I go to the Dr -- Strep Throat. Today I go back to work and what happens -- a sprinkler head let's go, the fire alarm goes off and I get to stand in the cold for 15 minutes or so.

I WANNA GO TO DISNEY!!!!

You say the word 'snow' here in Alabama and people freak out and clean out the grocery stores to stock up. Part of it is lingering overreaction due to a blizzard we had back in '93 which caught us off guard (expecting about 3-5" overnight, which is still considered HUGE by our standards, instead we got 18" in the span of one night.) But part of it is wishful thinking. A lot of people actually WANT it to snow. It's been years since we've had an accumulation more than an inch or so here in Birmingham and a lot of us miss the white stuff.

The only thing is that we don't have the facilities and equipment to handle it since it happens so rarely. So if it snows here, even if it's a pitiful accumulation, the city pretty much just shuts down. My friend from Michigan likes to make fun of it. Of course, I like to turn around and oh so gently return the favor when it's upper 90s and 90% humidity for 30 days straight and he's acting like it's the end of the world. The one good thing about cold is that at least you can dress for it. Even in the 40 below temperatures we regularly see at my family's cabin in the mountains of Montana at Christmast time I can still be quite comfortable with enough layers on. When it's 98 degrees and 90% humidity you can only take off so much before you're arrested . . . and even then you'll still be hot. ;)

Still, I know it can get dreary seeing it day in, day out. Fortunately we're on the downward slope out of winter now and spring will be here before you know it. I can't wait to be wearing shorts and sandals regularly again.
