Since working downtown I have tried to figure out a new doctor situation. I had been going to a doctor in the burbs for several years but with the new job situation and the fact that they cut their hours back to 8 - 5, no evening hours at all, obviously it wasn't going to work anymore. (I take the bus to work.) There is only one downtown clinic - it is about a 10 block walk from where I work so that is where I told my insurance I wanted to be "choiced" for now. However one caveat of our insurance company is that we can use urgent care as much as we want for the same copay as we use for our "choice" physician.
This morning I tried to get into my "choice" physician but there were no appts available. I wanted to follow up from my illness a week ago - I'm not feeling 100% yet. So instead, I took advantage of our insurance and used an urgent care clinic after work. The doctor I saw apparantly felt put out. After asking if I had a "regular" doctor, she told me pertly that I should be seeing a "family physician" for this. When I told her it wasn't that easy she said: "Well, you might just have to take some time off then." Good grief!!! Obviously I won't be going to that clinic in the future.

At least it's not as bad as the doctor I saw when I was 19 who told me that the reason I was overweight was that I had a bad self image and that I needed to see a psychiatrist.
