i hate school

You have major senioritis going on!! I can totally empathized with you. It sucks. But, it isn't too much longer. You're so close to the end. Hang in there.

haha thanks 8 months and like 5 days. :rotfl:
June 2nd, 2009. or 3rd. I actually don't know what the date is lol.

haha I will take your word for it.
I basically was going for the enviroment though. High school is tough considering getting up at 5:00 every morning, being forced to stay in a single building for 7 hours straight, dealing with all the crap people throw at you while your in the building, and dealing with all the crap things that come along with school[such as graduation focus groups, and idiotic guidance counslers who treat you like you are 5]
I mean I know College won't be an easy ride, but at least i can decide which classes I would be interested in taking[since most of the classes you HAVE to take I have taken in high school] and being able to have a more flexable schedule.

The social part of college is much better than HS. And you have a lot more independence (which can be good AND bad. lol)

i HATE school too, with a firey, firey passion.
my classes are MENTAL this year. and i'm sure they won't get any better (as i have two EXTRA classes next term!)

But honestly, I'm really not letting it ruin my life.
I'm sure I have different priorities than a lot of people, but I'm not letting school run my life. I'm 19!! I want to live! So i get my schoolwork done (at the last possible second) but I don't let it stress me and ruin my life...I learned all about that the hard way last year!!

I know I'll graduate with a diploma from U of T! And that's something I'm going to be proud of, whether I do it in 4 yr, 5 yrs or more!

I read this silly quote once "You can re-take a class, but you can't re-live a party" and I think that's going to be my philosophy this year.

(but like I said....my priorities are slight "out of whack" according to some)

Just don't let school take over your life, you're young and you need to live.
Make sure you find time to hang out with your friends and chill with your family

Yeah, I agree with that. Take some time to relax. Even if it is just for a night. Your body needs it.

I'm living by that motto too! :thumbsup2

Im in middle school..and im not having a tough time with the curriculum is just the stupid teachers.

I hate all my teachers.
I hate everything about this year.
The only thing that keeps me coming to school everyday is that admin guy, seeing him smile makes it all worthwhile xD

*and..its a law*

Im not a wussy about school, im tough, you wouldn't BELIEVE the kind of crap i deal with.

In 6th grade a teacher threw a desk at me.
In 2nd grade a teacher screamed at me to go get her a cup of water because she was thirsty, when i replied "I have no cup" she threw a stapler at the floor and screamed.

Now...its "YOU CANT GO TO YOUR LOCKER AT ALL DURING THE DAY"
"OH YOU HAVE TO USE THE BATHROOM? TOUGH LUCK, NOT UNTIL LUNCH"

So we get to lunch and its "THIS IS LUNCH TIME, NO BATHROOM, EAT"
and...i have no electives.

I didn't ask for any of the things i have.
So im like sitting in art class...doing my work.

I asked for home ec. TWICE as my first choice, both times i didn't get it.

Normally that wouldn't bother me, thats fine. Just an elective, but it bothers me, because im actually going to make a living off of this. I made up my mind way back in the beginning of 6th grade. I am going to cook. I need to cook. Cooking is my life...YET...They don't let me. *Those jerks..*

Actually. Im very excited that my parents found a college cooking classes that i can attend this year, but that kinda ruins the entire point of school for me D:.

I hate this year so much.
I miss last year, we had so much freedom, and the teachers respected us and treated us like adults, now theyre babying us and it makes me want to stab someone.

I almost started a mass protest today.

Im fed up.

One last thing.

Those teachers, *threw the desk, screamed and threw a stapler to the floor* are STILL out there teaching. I cant even imagine what those poor kids have to go through.

One of those teachers, had a personal favorite thing, for making us miss our buses. OUR BUSES.

Do you know what thats like? To have EVERYONE miss their bus?

the major difference between high school and college is that you are doing more work on your own. Most colleges expect you to do 5-10 hours of outside work for every 3 hours of class. So if you have a 1 hour class that meets three times a week you have an extra 15-30 hours of work outside of class. And if you do not do the reading, the professor will know and you won't get a good participation grade for that day.

If you go to graduate school, not doing the reading is class suicide and it becomes more like 15-20 hours of outside work per 3 hour class.

Your experiences sound a lot like mine in high school. Its why I hate school so much. I am passing the classes but just completly miserable.

Yes.
Its awful.

Everyone says "Youre in youre 8th grade year, rule the school!" but...how can we rule like last years 8th graders, if we dont have freedom.
We have scheduled times to go visit our lockers, yet ALL my teachers want a binder from me. So there i am running around the halls with 5 binders scurrying to class, when it would just be 10 times easier to stop at my locker on the way.

WE HAVE ASSIGNED SEATS IN LUNCH :scared1:

Do you know how ridiculous that is!?:lmao:

This is gonna drive me insane!:rotfl2:

I'm hating this year too. If I have it figured right, this year is going to be my hardest out of HS, so I'm SO looking foward to it being over.
I'm really excited to go to college even if the work is harder because I've been to the college I'm thinking about going to numerous times and I really love the atmosphere there.

I won't say I hate school because sometimes I like it and there are classes I do love most of the time. It's mostly just the classes I have to take that I hate, and what I can't take because of the career I'm thinking about. (This means I'm not able to take history, because I have to take all these science classes for honors. Which is annoying because I love history and hate science.)

Although I really do love HS better than Middle school.
It's so much better.

Yeah thats what all my 9th grade friends are telling me.

I didnt doubt them in the first place, i know its better, i think it may have to do with :

Freedom
and
Choice.

You have the choice of classes *espically if you need the credits for college* and you have the freedom of going to your locker during class changes. You can also sit anywhere you'd like at lunch.

Yet middle school says theyre preparing us for highschool when they do this stuff to us.

8 months
2 weeks
5 days

until school ends.

I LOVe high shcool!

new friends

fun and nice and good teachers my fav are my bio an algbera(HOnORS BABY!)

only have a prob with my comptuter teacher a nun -__-

i hope your sitch(kp?) gets better

All of the freshman at my old high school couldn't leave campus for lunch. In fact they had assigned places where they could eat. They could choose where they wanted to sit, but it HAD to be one of those areas. Everyone else never went near the freshman! We always went out somewhere.

hi pigletgirl
it's been a while

anyway, I love school... most of the time
but we have rash hashanah today so no school

college is so not easier.

i just got back from an exam, i have one today at 4. (timed anatomy lab exam! eeek)

tomorrow morning i have an anatomy lecture exam. i also need to write a paper by thusday, write a lab report for chemistry by thursday, watch a movie and analyze by thursday, and i have a chemistry lecture exam on friday

it sucks.
oh yeah and i need to keep a 78 average in anatomy lecture/lab and chem lecture/lab to even be considered to move on in my major. and my overall gpa can't drop below a 3 or i lose my scholarship.
FABULOUSSSSSS

I'm sorry Shelby. I hope you can get a mental health day STAT!

My year is going good. I don't have that many friends in my classes, but it's the beginning of the year. Hopefully I'll make more as the year goes on.
What's frustrating me is my child development teacher/class. UGH! We get to learn how to be "better parents". I wasn't planning kids till after college! Besides that, she lives in her own world. If you watch Harry Potter, Professor Trelawney anyone? That's her. I'm still on partial homebound, and the school wants my homebound teacher to photocopy every worksheet I do at home so no one can hold me against it saying I didn't do it. She's all like "Why don't you have any work for me, you were out the whole weekend". I told her my spiel and then she got all huffy and walked away. What the heck?

I just wanted to comment on this too. Yes you get to choose your major, whatever you want. But every school has general requirements you must take. Here I must complete: Foundations of Software App. (computer), Intro Fine Arts, Fund. Communications, 6 credits of a writing course (2 semesters), a math class, 2 different sciences, a literature class, a class in politics/history, one in philosophy/religion, one in psychology, one in sociology (these 2 you can only pick from like 2 different courses in each subject) and there's a multicultural requirement. You need to complete 12 credits at a higher level (2000-3000) OUTSIDE your major. Plus then whatever classes you need for your major.

So yes, you can pick classes sometimes. But there's also probably a BUNCH of classes you don't get to pick.
