I hate my wedding video!!! Update first post

So I just got my video back today and watched it right away. I have to say I am so disappointed especially after the price we paid for it. I feel like our video is not as good as any of the sample videos or other videos we have seen from our videographer. My friend got her video back about 3 weeks ago and her wedding was 2 months and 2 weeks prior to mine so I feel like our video is just slapped together because he was behind. I also wasn't consulted on music choices at all, just told my video was done.

Any opinions on what I should do? Should I complain or do you think it will grow on me?

Update: Jeffrey fixed our wedding video and it is much better. I am glad he was willing to work with us on making changes. It still isn't 100% IMO but it is a lot better. At least now I don't feel like I wasted 5k. I can actually show my wedding video to people now!
 
Well since you paid a lot of money, I would make sure you get what you paid for.

I would compile a list of the things you have a problem with and a list of songs you'd prefer to be in the video and send that along to the videographer. You don't really have anything to lose at this point.
 
If I were you I would definitely contact the videographer and see what can be done to make the video more to your liking. Good luck:goodvibes
 
Melissa, if you aren't happy with the quality I would definitely contact the company and see if they can produce a product you are pleased with with the music you desire or refund you part of the purchase price. In your contract is it stated that you have the option to select music for the video? If it is, then you should have no trouble persuading them to do this. If it isn't, you should start with the quality issue and work from there.

I'll have to re read my contract. I am not disappointed in the music I just thought it was odd that I wasn't consulted, my friend told me she chose hers for her video so I am confused.

I re watched the video so I can try and figure out exactly what is bothering me and I guess there is just a long part in the middle that has no editing what so ever really.

It just isn't the stylish edited video that he advertises and for 5k it just doesn't live up to my expectations. :sad2:
 
I loved the first part of my video but wasn't 100% happy with the second part, there was a song on it that I didn't choose or like which didn't help. I wasn't going to say anything but I knew I would never be happy and you only get this once. So I emailed the corrections I wanted and they all got applied. I'm so happy I did this as I love my video.
 
I think if you are not happy you should say something now. You don't want to not speak up and then hate your video forever. I would complain.
 
I agree. You should definitely say something. This is something you should cherish for the rest of your life, not regret. The least you can do is ask, all they can do is say no. Good luck.
 
Whoa if I read that right and you paid 5k for it, you better get to complaining!! I think I am barely paying 1k for ours and have seen multiple videos from my company and they are amazing. The owner is awesome too so I know he would be willing to work with me if there were issues.

But then again, I am not getting married in Disney so maybe that is the cost difference?
 
Uh OHHHHH. sigh. that sucks. Like others have said I would compile and list and call them - not email them. If they are good then they will work with you to try to fix it to be more to your liking. If they don't - then threaten to tell everyone on the online boards about your miserable experience.

At least the teaser pictures you got were AMAZING. So in the end if you don't have a great video - at least you lucked out with the still photos.

I feel bad. Please let us know what they tell you.
 
I agree with everyone else! Talk to them and tell them what you don't like and tell them to fix the music. I mean to pay that much money and not be satisfied is beyond unacceptable. I'm sure they will understand what you would like, but you just have to let them know. Good Luck!
 
Thanks everyone, I am going to watch the video with Robert and see what he thinks. I want to wait a few days before I complain and give it a chance to grow on me. I am worried that maybe my expectations were too high so I don't want to over react.
 
I agree that its not good to over react - but at the same time you shouldn't give yourself the chance to lower your expectations.

Do you know how I could do it? If I can find a way then I'll put it up now. Would you tube work?
 
I am sorry! That is so dissapointing! I think you should call and ask if they can fix it for you! Then, based on what they say, you can include that info in your Vendor reviews!

I really think they would be willing to fix it, they wont want you to be unhappy with it! Call them!

Even if we all like it, its YOUR video and YOUR opinion is what matters! Call them!!

I would start with youtube. But honestly I know nothing about youtube so I don't know how it works - sorry. :confused3

If youtube doesn't work I would just google it and see what you can find.

Robert is going to call, he just watched it and said he didn't like it. At least its not just me.

And thank goodness my photographer was great, I am so sad :sad2:

Yeah, it was Jeffrey. I was trying not to mention his name but anyone could look in my trip report and find it. It just isn't as good as any of the work I have seen from him. He also stated I owed him more money when the video was finished and I didn't but as soon as I told him that I didn't it was straightened out and then he didn't send my raw footage with the DVD's so I am less than thrilled right now. 5k is a lot to swallow, right now I feel sick about it.
 
I have no advice, but I wanted to send a virtual hug anyway. I'm sorry you have to deal with all this stress. 5k is A LOT of money to spend and not be happy, I would be upset, too. (Heck, I'm still upset about the $800 for the MK photos!) There should be no way he ought to be charging that much if he isn't willing to work with you to make a product you love. I hope this gets sorted out quickly and without hassles. :hug:
