I hate my wedding video!!! Update first post

I'm sorry to hear you don't like your video... You're doing the right thing by determining what specifically you don't like - they should be able to do something to make you happy.

Good luck!

Melissa.. I work in video production.. maybe I can help. what's wrong with it? I know you said you feel like parts aren't edited at all? I'm curious as to how bad it really is. I know you live in FL - not sure where, but if you want I'd love to give you some advice if I can see it. also, if you have the raw footage or will get it, what format is it in? If it's in mini dv something other than dvd, I could probably help you edit it better or change out your music. Let me know if you want some help.

I feel terrible for you. Working in video, it's difficult sometimes to see some of the work that's out there. During my wedding, I wanted so bad to hire a videographer (instead of having my coworkers shoot it) because I wanted them to enjoy the wedding. they ended up shooting it because I honestly couldn't find anyone out there who could do the work I think was worthy of the money they ask for. That's just me though because I'm a video snob :) But seriously, if you need some help, I'll try to do the best I can to give you an honest opinion from someone who works in this business.

YouTube will only let you post videos that are 10 minutes or less. I posted my full-length (60-minutes) video at www.blip.tv, and I know others have used www.viddler.com.

But first you'll have to rip it from the DVD to a digital file (unless your videographer gave you one in addition to the DVD). There is some freeware available that will do it for you, but I'm afraid I didn't research that much cuz we had a friend rip ours. Maybe Tracy will have some ideas! :thumbsup2

Tracey, thank you so, so much. Right now I don't have the raw footage (even though I did purchase it) because I guess it was forgotten. I emailed him about it so hopefully I get it soon.

I am trying to be very objective until I get the raw footage, I hope that will help me determine if he just did a bad editing job or if he just missed things on our wedding day.

I know his style is to have short video's (that's why we bought the raw footage) but 6 hours of coverage was turned into about 20 minutes. There are some good parts but overall it just isn't good. It's repetitive and doesn't flow well in parts. The music he chose was fine, I just thought it strange that I wasn't consulted at all.

I am uploading it now so it can be posted so I will update my original post once it is done.

Thank you again, the offer is MUCH appreciated. Any feed back would be wonderful so at least I have a professional opinion and not just an emotional one.

I'm so sorry you dont like your video, we were worried about ours as the demo's look so good but I was happy to complain if it wasnt what we wanted etc

For that amount of money I would expect more than 20 mins out of 6 hours, we got 40 mins out of 4 hours shooting so I would not be happy with that

Oh, sweetie, that stinks! I agree with everyone else. You paid a lot of money, and a videographer that charges that price range has got to be worried about his reputation. And if Robert doesn't like it...then it's time to get your concerns fixed. Men are more objective than we are, so his opinion serves as a very good validation of yours!

I, also, paid about $5K for our video, so I'm hoping I like it. I did get to choose my songs, though, so we'll see.

If nothing else, you can point out the differences between the service you got and what your friend got from him!

Thank you everyone.

I figured out how to get the video on you tube by converting the file type with software and the uploading. After 3 hours of uploading last night, you tube has rejected it because it is too long (a whopping 26 minutes) so I am back to square one.

Tracey, perhaps I can email you the converted file (not sure if it will work but I was able to send it to my BFF through aim) and you could look at it?

Melissa, that stinks BIG time I can't believe that you paid all the money and you and you DH don't like it! Hopefully they'll be able to fix it to your liking and work with you in some way. :flower3:

Melissa, I'm sorry to read this  I can imagine you're very disappointed. I agree with everyone else, and especially Heidi who said if Robert doesn't like it that's a good validation for you because men are more objective (and usually less sentimental). You need to get it fixed - not just because of the money but because it was your day and your video should be how you want it to be. Good luck and please KUP!

Thanks Carrie, I tried blip.tv. but the file wasn't compatible so I would have to convert it and when I tried converting it with the program it said it would take 16 hours. I am going to see if the file type (avi) will work on viddler.

Update: I sent him and email and I am awaiting a response.

I hope that we can come to a satisfactory resolution.

Thank you for all the support.

I got a very quick response from him saying he will review the comments to the video so I am hopeful that things will work out.

I'll keep you posted.

Yay!! That's good you got a quick response I hate waiting!! Hopefully they will work with well they kinda have to if you ask me I know if I paid all that money and hated it I would really complain and ask to be worked with to make sure that it's fixed! I mean it's your wedding day after all it only happens once! KUP :flower3:

Good luck! I hope you two can come to an agreement!!

Good luck! I hope they resolve this for you without any hassle!
