I just wanted to post a thread about how much I hate hurricanes. Frances was not very nice to south florida. People have lost their homes, income, property, etc. Here in Palm Beach County most fatalities were due to people driving like maniacs through intersections with no traffic lights.
The loss of power has forced schools to close for almost two weeks. People were literally fighting over ice, water, food, gas, and traffic. And this was for a category 2 storm. I can't fathom a cat 5 making landfall. On a personal note, being without power for five days was difficult. We lost a very old, very beautiful ficus tree in our yard too. I was very cranky without power, but kept thinking of our upcoming cruise on 9/26. I realize that we had it much, much better than some!
I hope everyone who cruised or could not cruise during this difficult time can turn around their dissapointments. The members of this board have been so supportive with all of the sad things that have occured recently. We prayed as a family every night for poor little Sophie and her family.
On a positive note, we had some great times with our children during all of this. We spent many hours together just talking and playing silly games instead of watching television, computers, etc. It was nice to share that time together and made us aware of what we need to take time for!
