I Hate Christmas Lights!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe Christmas lights are clogging your toilet.

:jester: i let dw do them this year:jester:

I hear ya Lisa!!! No matter how well you take them down and wrap them, coil them, whatever, they're still a mess when you need them again! IF they even work!!!

Long story short, how was that?? ;)

The single strand lights I kept the boxes they came in and wrapped them around the whole box. They unwound like a charm. That was a first. ;) I even had the forethought to test them all before I put them away so every strand works. Yay!

Then theres the icicle lights. Those are in one big tangled mess and they're staying that way. I do not believe there is ANY way to keep those kind untangled. Maybe I'll give them to dd to do as a project. She's the one who wants them up the most anyway. :D

It's actually not the tangling that bothers me......it is the lights that don't work...and you work on them for hours....get them going....DH puts them up and they don't work again. We ended up just going out and getting new lights for the house....eventhough ours were only 2 years old! AND when DH was hanging them.......some of them were burning out...what a nightmare....
I have a long strand of garland/lights I put on my wraught (SP?) iron thing on the porch and 1/2 of the one strand didn't work...spend forever trying to find the problem....with no luck...so those are going to be tossed too!!!!!

Today, I test the tree lights.....wish me luck!!!!!!!

Pixie Dust for Lisa L from MI's Christmas lights. :)

I just play my Christmas music & keep visualizing how pretty it will all look when I'm done, & somehow that gets me through...that & a few choice words thrown in here & there for good measure.

With all of the things people have invented, why not Christmas lights which cannot go out -- no matter what? I told DH the best strategy might be to start fresh each year -- expensive but almost worth the time saved in aggrevation. DH said they can't invent lights which actually work year after year because if they did, the retail market for new lights would suffer because they wouldn't have to be replaced!!;)

My "favorite" part is when you test them before hanging them up, and they work. By the time you are done putting them up and you plug them in to see how your "project" looks, then half of the strand doesn't light up!!!!!!!!

Most of our neighbors were out this past weekend decorating their homes. My friend/neighbor and her DH went to all the trouble of decorating the trunk of their royal palm in all clear lights. All the lights were working before they put them up. When they were done, they plugged in their lights and 2/3 of them didn't work (only the middle section was lighting up). They weren't too happy. Her DH just went to the store and bought new lights!

'Tis the season to be jolly.......;)

I know the feeling. Every year there is one strand of lights that is working and then when I get it on the tree it stops!

It drives me nuts:crazy:

I am very lazy. Every year I go to Target when they have their light on sale, usually for 2.49 for a 100 lights. I plug in my lights if a strand doesn't work I just throw it in the trash and use the new lights. I have never spent more than 15 dollars for new lights. $15 is worth the agravation to me.

I agree with Sharbear. Kmart had the strands of 300 lights for $3.99, and the 100 lights for $1.99. If they don't light up, out they go.

Our first BAH HUMBUG post of the season:D :D

Hey, what about those old fashioned candles????? Just be careful that they don't burn your house down :jester: .......

Yep, that's me too. Just buy new lights. This year we got one of those pre-lit Christmas trees so we don't have to bother with putting the lights on that...although next year I'm worried about the lights on it not working. The salesman said they last for a good while and are pretty easy to replace. Anyone know if the people at Garden Ridge get paid commision? I don't think so, but its usually the people that do get paid commision that lie to you so he wouldn't have had any reason to lie to me...would he???

This year I think we're going to take the "easy" way out. We've noticed signs all over town that say "Christmas Lights Installed and Removed!" I think I'm going to give them a call to see how much that costs. This is our 2nd Christmas in our house and last Christmas I was pregnant and couldn't get much done, this year I just want to be lazy. Plus, I'm not too fond of the idea of DH crawling up on the roof to put up some lights.
