Yesterday, I checked the www.disneyworld.com website to see if the 2008 rates had been released. I've done this every day since June 13th. Of course, the rates aren't out yet.
I looked around the site for a while and, while I was checking out the virtual tour of the Wilderness Lodge, a screen popped up asking if I wanted an live chat with Disney. Of course, I said yes.
I had a very nice chat with a Disney representative. She said that the 2008 rates should be out in about two weeks.
I have already booked our June, 2008 room only stay at the Wilderness Lodge and I had a couple of questions.
I asked to please confirm how the change from room only to a package reservation would work. (I had already been told but I wanted confirmation.)
She confirmed that the room only reservation would be cancelled and the money I paid ($298.??) for our first night's stay would be refunded to me.
She would then take the standard view room I had booked and book it as part of my package. She would add tickets and the dining plan and give me a grand total. I would have 14 days from the day she changed it to a package to pay the $200.00 package deposit.
They can not take the $298.?? and put it towards the package deposit.
I asked if I would have my $298.?? refund within the 14 days and she said absolutely.
So, all of you out there that are waiting for the 2008 rates to come out should be happy it sounds like it will be soon. And, for those who were wondering about how complicated it would be to change a room only to a package once the rates come out, it doesn't sound too complicated to me.
