I guess my friend expected something different......

I am still laughing about the people who thought everything was "gift shops". I saw the original post about it and shared it with my mom and we laugh about it all the time!

What? These people cannot go into a shop out of sheer boredom or curiosity? If they would have gone into ONE, they would have seen that it was a ride and figured it all out! They are probably the same type who run through a mall, renaissance festival, art show in ten minutes flat and declare they saw "nothing". There is no hope for these DRY types.

I KNOW. Or how can they not look at a map and say-oh this sounds cool lets ask how we get on it!

My 2 oldest ds are 13 and 15. We went last Sept--had a great time and are going back this Oct. There are things they like to do at Disney, and they do enjoy going. Of course, like everyone, there are some things they dont like. So we dont make them do that stuff. The have a good time int he parks, they love the water parks. Have a great time at DD.
Those people who go and come back whiney and unhappy--I think they like it like that. Some people just enjoy finding the bad things instead of the good things. I personally dont see how you could go to Disney with everything that is there and not have a good time somewhere!!

These posts remind me of our closest friends, another military family. Last year when Disney was offering their Heroes Salute (military member got a seven day pass for free, and fifty percent off for up to five people) we tried to get them to go with us. Our kids are the same age, so we thought it would be fun. They tried to discourage us from going. They had been once, middle of the summer, with a three month old baby, no stroller, ten years ago. All they would say is how much they hated it, how hot, how boring, couldn't even remember which park they went to. The only place they went to that they liked was seaworld. The baby got diahrea (probably from dehydration since it was hot), they didn't have a change of clothes. The mom doesn't ride anything, they didn't see any shows or parades. Husband could only recall one lame ride, a log flume ride with stupid animals singing.
When we returned from our trip, raving about it, and showed them our pictures they were shocked. Couldn't believe we had a great time, couldn't believe all the great pictures. The lame log flume he had ridden was Splash Mountain.
Now they can't believe we bought DVC and are going again...
(and again, and again).
Some people....you can bet we won't be asking them to join us anytime soon.

Yeah....I love how people ask you advice, and then never take it!! I have a friend who went last July who wanted to take his family to HDD. I mentioned a few times that he needed to make a PS, but he just kept saying he was going to "wing it". Needless to say......they didn't get in!! DUH.

I helped a friend plan for her family a few years ago. When she got back I couldn't wait to ask her about what kind of time they had. "It was ok. Don't see that it's much different that 6 flags." What? "Did you see Illuminations?" No. "Did you do ?????" No to almost everything. No wonder they thought it was no better that 6 Flags. Why did they waste my time if they weren't going to do anything I said? These folks make 4 times our annual salary but dined no where but counter service with their kids. No wonder they were sick of burgers and fries by the time they spent a week there. I told them about so many of the wonderful dining experiences beforehand. "We don't spend that kind of money to eat with our kids. That's only for when adults go somewhere without them." Whatever...
