Well, I keep reading all this stuff about how bad they are at Disneyland for DVC and how allegedly the guides are so so bad. So I decided to check for myself. My brother actually owns so I figured I would be a good test case.

I went to Disneyland and I went to a DVC kiosk at Main Street. Within minutes of just looking through the book I was told I would get a $50.00 gift card just for going on tour. I told the girl I did not want to buy anything but she told me it was fine, just go and see and get your $50.00. She even told me I could have over 35% on my airfare (which I know is a lie)......

So I walked over to the sales center. When I entered the receptionist was very nice and offered me something to drink. I sat down and was met with a salesperson who seemed like a nice guy.

As we began to chat he was very Disney at the beginning but as time dragged on he was more and more sales oriented. He had a response for everything. I told him I would have to speak to my wife and he said "buy today, you have 10 days to cancel" I advised him my wife was in the park. He responded "I can go pick her up If need be" I advised him I would rather think about this before I spent so much money, he responded "You only get your free passes if you buy from me today, I'm sorry" as time went by he seemed not as Disney when he knew I was not going to buy from him. Towards the end of my tour he was like whatever.

I don't know why he would do this. It's seems to me that he simply is the kind of guy that wants you to buy no matter what. I really did not feel the Disney pixie dust here.

I know some people are going to say "Oh, this is just some guy that's wierd, or maybe it's a mad person" the truth is I love Disney and we are just regular people. My hope was that all this stuff I heard was incorrect about the california people but maybe it's true. I wish it was not. Walt would have never wanted people that worked for him to do this. I actually feel bad since I am sure many good people work there, but what can I do?

My hope is that all of you do not expereince what I did yesterday. The idea of Disney has been changed in my mind forever.

I even spoke to my brothers sales person about this and he said that the people that work in California don't make as much money as they do in Florida...guess that explains it.............

That is funny, I purchased at Disneyland and found a few things odd.

1. "so I figured I would be a good test case" Test case for what??? sounds like you had your mind made up.

2. "So I walked over to the sales center" We were given a ride to the sales center in one of those golf carts.

3. "buy today, you have 10 days to cancel" Our guide was almost the opposite, she encouraged us to go home and sleep on it. The offer(forget what the incentive was at the time) was good for about 2 weeks. And at time of signing all the papers, she did mention we had a cool off period(could still cancel) longer than required by law.

4. "You only get your free passes if you buy from me today" What passes?? We were given FASTpasses each time we went in, once for tour and once for signing.

5. "I even spoke to my brothers sales person" Who/when/why????

6. user name is interesting to say the least.

Again I find myself defending itstrue and those like itstrue.

Again, not because anything this person says is true. I defend and stand behind itstrue because the internet was created by the technically elite to be a bastion for the anonymous and as a method for saying strange things and letting everyone else point out how strange those things you said, really are.

The real reason I defend the odd comments made by the few people who definitely do not want their real name to appear with the post is, ....... freedom of speech. Yes in this great land, comments that truly hold absolutely no worth, have their place in helping to protect our rights.
Itstrue, thank you for showing the fact that America defends everybody's right to say what they feel like, even if purely made up and said only to elicit reaction.

Rock on itstrue, rock on. :teeth:

Your experience with a DVC salesperson has changed your opinion about everything to do with Disney forever? :confused3

Gosh, that's awful. We'll miss ya, dood! :rotfl2:

It's a timeshare salesperson. While DVC's are generally a cut above, not all are. If this tour was a problem, don't do a real timeshare tour or you might contemplate suicide. Seriously, I wouldn't worry about it. DVC and Disney are just as good or bad or both as they were prior to your tour.

Miss him, HE HAS ONE POST :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Hey it all started with one tea bag being through into Boston Harbor (Lipton Tea I think).

Either way, keep the constitution alive itstrue and .....

It's been a while since high school civics classes, but last time I checked the free speech doctrines of the First Amendment address governmental suppression of free speech. You can stand on a street corner and shout pretty much anything you want, but businesses and organizations have every right to control what is said within their establishment.

Personally, I'm pretty grateful that the moderators here weed out the comments which are "...purely made up and said only to elicit reaction."

Delete baby, delete! :)

EDIT: I should also add that I don't have any strong objections to what "itstrue" said. But, like any other public message board post, it's open to criticism.

I do believe that posting under multiple usernames is another violation of board policies, and frankly it's pretty easy to track that activity back to the individual. That can get a user banned.

(And now hopefully both of us can follow the guidelines that we agreed-to when registering for the site and avoid going off-topic again.)

shady ..

We purchased over the phone ate the start of October. And everything was great.

My partner has never been on the "live" tour, so last weekend we were up in DL and decided to pop over to their models.

They were very nice and the guide who showed us the models took alot of time showing us everything and answering many of his still lingering questions. She devoted AT LEAST 1 1/2 hours with us and she had absolutely nothing to gain by doing so. She was just enthusiastic about the program and wanted to make sure we had all of our questions answered.

As far as other guides at DLR go, I can't say they are all that good but, remember, the DLR Vacation Club Office is only 1 year old with many new guides.

Personally, I don't see how anyone could read this and object to it. The person you were speaking with was hired to be a SALESMAN.

Throughout the conversation, whenever you presented him with a problem (my wife isn't here) he offered a solution (we can pick her up.) What is so objectionable about that? In fact, it's interesting that you admit to changing your story midway through. First you didn't want to buy because your wife wasn't there. When he offered a solution, suddenly it was "...I would rather think about this..." Why be dishonest in the first place?

And then when it became clear you weren't buying he lost interest. Really? Gosh, I can't believe he didn't want to spend the rest of the day getting to know you!!!

Disney employees strive to achieve a high degree of guest satisfaction in every interaction, but that doesn't mean they can totally neglect their duties in doing so. A front desk CM can't leave his post to go play a round of golf just because you invite him--he has a job to perform.

What exactly is it about the presentation that you found so objectionable?

Awww c'mon, just go back to tormenting the three billie goats gruff. The "bad guide at DLR" schtick is getting old, and it really wasn't that good the first time around. Now it's just a yawner. :bored:

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience.

I am just finishing up my purchase of SSR from a gentleman at the Disneyland Sales office. He has been FANTASTIC! Maybe I got lucky, but I doubt it! The person I have been dealing with didn't have all of the answers to my questions, but he got the answers pretty quickly. I never felt pressured at ANY point. I would have to say it was one of the best sales experiences I have ever been through.

I will also defend the OP. Go for it. Ben Franklin started his career by writing untruths under an assumed name. He was just clever about it.

So in the spirit of the thread I add my 2:

If you're gonna fudge, make it smart. :smokin: We all like a good read as much as the next guy.

Also, consider another name. That's a tough one to live up to. Possibly, "imboredandlookingforafight?" OR "imbitterandseekingrevenge?"

My experience with DVC in DL was exactly the opposite of the OPs. I believe that there may be high pressure sales people in California, I just didn't experience it.

I don't think anyone said the OP can't state his/her opinion. We just don't buy it, which is our right too.
