We ended up switching vets after an incident where I really felt like they were just trying to milk every cent out of me. It was a Sunday and they are a 24 hour animal hospital, but I called because my dog was walking really weird and couldn't sit down. Every time she tried she'd cry and then stand back up and pace some more. It turned out to be something with her tail that they said was common, gave her some pain meds and she'd be all better. That was fine, but while we were there I figured I'd get some more heartworm meds and some other routine stuff. I go to pay the bill and they charged me double just because it was a Sunday. For the actual appointment/exam I understand, but twice for all of the medication, ear cleaner, etc?! Why is heartworm medication more expensive on a Sunday than a Monday?! That was the last time we ever saw that vet because I felt like they were all about the money.
I agree with other posters that Vetco is awesome! We do that now for routine shots. If there's a reason she needs to be seen we'll take her into the vet, but for bordatella or something, Vetco is wonderful!
