Recently, I switched my physical therapy place. My ortho prescribed Aquatics (physical therapy in the water) as a last resort to see if it would help move things along. The place I went to didn't have a pool, and I didn't think I was making much progress.

Oh my this place is wonderful! On Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays I have aquatics from 3-4pm and regular PT from 4-5. They know how to deal with kids, (albeit there ARE a lot of old people there  ) my therapist is female, (I feel more comfortable with a woman than a man) and there are other patients there so I don't feel alone.

On the 1st day of Aquatics, I was walking in the water fine, some balance problems but it was fine. I learned how to walk sideways and did some strengthening workouts. 2nd day, I learned how to walk backwards and do steps. I then walked up stairs to get outta the pool. I was so happy! PT is great to, I've built so much muscle in the 3 sessions there, it's not funny. I'm so sore the day after, it even hurts to sit on my butt! (I have hamstring problems)

I'm so happy that the water is helping my bursitis, (what kept me from walking) and that I'm making progress. I was just stuck in a rut and now I'm getting out. YAY! Oh, and I got my hearing aids switched to the ones I wanted in the beginning. I got in-ear ones and theh hurt too much so I got behind-the-ear ones.

Just wanted to share my excitement. I know I've been complaining alot, I thought I'd let you guys hear some happy news for once.
(PS - check out my ticker! not much time left. )

Yayyy!!!! That is awesome!!! I'm so happy for you :woohoo:

Congrats! I'm really happy for you, Sonya! *hug*

I'm in the same boat with you as preferring a female therapist. When I was in PT last year for my back and shoulder I had a few therapists besides my regular one because they wanted to schedule me 3 times a week and Kathryn wasn't always available. I had Pat a few times and I knew him prior to PT (he used to be the school's athletic trainer), but it still felt odd doing all my exercises infront of him. I prefer Andy (our current AT) over Pat and Kathryn though for small stuff like taping and such and he gives a waaaay more effective Deep Tissue Massage than either of them. And he's kinda like an older brother figure, so it's less odd.

But yeah. sorry for the rambling!

Keep getting better!

Congrats!

Thats so great that its helping!

wait i am kinda new here what's this all about

sorry not knowing

She had a rare form of cancer and is now in remission going through Physical Therapy to get her strength back. She can tell you more because details aren't my thing- especially with medical terms.

Don't be sorry. You weren't here, you didn't know anything.

Anywho, on the 11th, it'll be one year since I was diagnosed. I had a VERY rare type of bone cancer called Osteosarcoma. The tumor was in my knee, and you either get an amputation or knee replacement and/or titanium rod. I recieved the latter. I had 6 cycles of chemp, which means 18 times going to the cancer center to recieve chemo. Between the surgery and low blood counts, I didn't finish until March 31st. I'm in remission now, so it's all good.
BTW, I was 14 when all this happened.
The cancer I had was so rare, it only affects 1000 people in the US every year. (including children, adults, and the elderly) Here's where it gets better. It's rare in girls (I'm a girl) and even rarer to have chondroblastic osteosarcoma. (I had cartiledge in the tumor)

Thanks everyone! I just felt so good and had to share my news.

You so need to start a trip report here on the TB for your make a wish trip!
