Recently, I switched my physical therapy place. My ortho prescribed Aquatics (physical therapy in the water) as a last resort to see if it would help move things along. The place I went to didn't have a pool, and I didn't think I was making much progress.
Oh my this place is wonderful! On Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays I have aquatics from 3-4pm and regular PT from 4-5. They know how to deal with kids, (albeit there ARE a lot of old people there
) my therapist is female, (I feel more comfortable with a woman than a man) and there are other patients there so I don't feel alone.
On the 1st day of Aquatics, I was walking in the water fine, some balance problems but it was fine. I learned how to walk sideways and did some strengthening workouts. 2nd day, I learned how to walk backwards and do steps. I then walked up stairs to get outta the pool. I was so happy! PT is great to, I've built so much muscle in the 3 sessions there, it's not funny. I'm so sore the day after, it even hurts to sit on my butt! (I have hamstring problems)
I'm so happy that the water is helping my bursitis, (what kept me from walking) and that I'm making progress. I was just stuck in a rut and now I'm getting out. YAY! Oh, and I got my hearing aids switched to the ones I wanted in the beginning. I got in-ear ones and theh hurt too much so I got behind-the-ear ones.
Just wanted to share my excitement. I know I've been complaining alot, I thought I'd let you guys hear some happy news for once.
(PS - check out my ticker! not much time left.
