I went once before in January 1990. It wasn't that hard. My parents had just moved to Chicago. I watched the show and called a number and went a week later.
Since then, I have tried to go back over the years. No luck. In Sept., my friend said that her boss wanted to take his wife to the show for her 50th birthday. She wanted to know if I knew how to get tickets. I said I knew no secrets, which I don't. But, I've been trying to get tickets since September.
If you go to her website, there is a number to call to try to get tix. It's impossible. They only book one month in advance and they only open up the ticket line for a very short time. It books almost instantly.
They also have a place on the site where it says that sometimes you can email in for last minute reservations. This pops up rarely also. Every time I have seen it, I've tried it and it's already been closed or I sent an email and didn't hear back.
Well, the last minute message popped up two days ago. I called my friend and she had her boss try for tix. I did too. Well, this afternoon, after lunch I checked my voice mail, and there was a call from the Oprah show asking if I wanted tickets. I nearly died. I'm so psyched. My friend's boss is besides himself. He's not telling his wife anything. It will be a total surprise. He's just having her pack a bag and taking her to the airport. My sister and I will be going to the show with he and his wife.
I'm totally thrilled and flabberghasted I got a call. Must be good kharma.
