Hip hip hooray! After years of trying, I finally scored tickets to a taping of Oprah. I am so happy I'm floating on a cloud.:yay: :woohoo: :goodvibes

:cool1: Congratulation! Have a great time! Hope you get to stay for a taping of Oprah After the Show for Oxygen!

How do you get tickets? I have always wondered. Do you just ask for them and get placed on a waiting list?

It's so funny you posted this! I was just telling my DH tonight about how much I'd like to go to a taping of the Oprah show. I hope you have a great time!!!

I went once before in January 1990. It wasn't that hard. My parents had just moved to Chicago. I watched the show and called a number and went a week later.

Since then, I have tried to go back over the years. No luck. In Sept., my friend said that her boss wanted to take his wife to the show for her 50th birthday. She wanted to know if I knew how to get tickets. I said I knew no secrets, which I don't. But, I've been trying to get tickets since September.

If you go to her website, there is a number to call to try to get tix. It's impossible. They only book one month in advance and they only open up the ticket line for a very short time. It books almost instantly.

They also have a place on the site where it says that sometimes you can email in for last minute reservations. This pops up rarely also. Every time I have seen it, I've tried it and it's already been closed or I sent an email and didn't hear back.

Well, the last minute message popped up two days ago. I called my friend and she had her boss try for tix. I did too. Well, this afternoon, after lunch I checked my voice mail, and there was a call from the Oprah show asking if I wanted tickets. I nearly died. I'm so psyched. My friend's boss is besides himself. He's not telling his wife anything. It will be a total surprise. He's just having her pack a bag and taking her to the airport. My sister and I will be going to the show with he and his wife.

I'm totally thrilled and flabberghasted I got a call. Must be good kharma. :hippie:

Wow! Have a great time! :thumbsup2

Have a great time and enjoy.

Went to see Oprah twice when we lived in the Chicago area. I remember how hard it was to contact the show by phone to get reservations. Dialed that number over and over again until I got through.

She shook everyone's hand on their way out after the taping and that was a thrill to be up close and personal.

Have fun.

Congrat's! :thumbsup2 Let us know when you are going to be on, you must be so excited! Would had been nice to had been on her favorite things show! You never know now do ya! Best Wishes! :goodvibes

You poor thing. Why anyone should be forced to listen to that windbag is beyond me. Should this be considered torture?

:cool1: How fun for you! You need to go get a new outfit! She's always saying how great the audience looks.

I remember going to the Tonight Show many years ago, (when it was still Johnny!), and part of the excitement was not knowing what the show would be about. I think we found out a few days before, when they announced who would be coming up later in the week. In our case, it was Vincent Price, and Steve Allen, I think. The theater was so much smaller than it looked on TV! I hope you have a wonderful time! :goodvibes

That´s so exciting! Have fun and let us know how it was.

Congrats! I know those tickets are hard to get.

My friend and I went about three years ago. We were so excited, hoping it would be an interesting show or she would have some great guests.

Unfortunately, our topic was "Spouses Who Commit Murder". The first part of the show was Oprah interviewing a pastor in prison who had killed his wife and the second was a woman whose husband killed their children and stabbed her 50 times. Miraculously, she survived and he is in prison for life. She was there to tell her story. It was sobering to say the least.

No giveaways that day. I'm sure your experience will be better.

Have fun!

:thumbsup2 That happened to me in 1994, I apparently didn't realize it was that hard to get tickets.

They flashed a number regarding Best Friends, so I called, they asked to tell them a litle about my best friend & I, so did. Later that day they called back & invited us to the show.

It was that simple. My best friend & I went. We went, Gail was on the show & Valerie Bertinelli (sp?) with her best friends were on the show too. It had to do with a book on best friends.

I haven't ever tried to get tickets again because I haven't had a desire to go to another taping. It was an interesting experience though.

Have a fun time!!

The show is taping on Jan. 31. I don't know the air date yet, or the topic. I hope it's something fun. When I went back in 1990, it was Children Living in Poverty. A totally sad, serious topic.

I agree, it can be quite an ordeal watching a show's taping. Especially the waiting. And it will be in Chicago, in January. I hope they don't make us stand outside long. I probably wouldn't fly out special if I wasn't going with the other couple. Of course, I will also be visiting my family which will be great. The SuperBowl is that Sunday so we can all watch it together - plus the Bears are playing.

I think it's going to be a great surprise for the wife and I'm happy to do something nice for her.

Your so lucky!!! I have always wanted to do this. Wear our green so we can spot you on TV. What day are you going to be there?
