Large glue sticks.........teacher probably thinks they are easier for the kids to handle than the small. If you screw the small one up too far, it is easy to glob it off in chunks. It would be harder to do that if it were wider, even if you did it too far. I don't see why you need 12 though.
Nothing better than Ticonderoga pencils. Some of those cheaper ones last all of two days, because the point breaks off too easily, and they have to sharpen it constantly.
I really don't get asking the kids to bring the tennis balls. The teachers in our school who use them, just go to target and buy several of those 20 for 5.00 packs. Cheaper than buying them four at a time. Plus, they last longer than 1 year!
The all one list for the district is terrible. I would hate to be stuck with a list everyone else wanted. I'm sure I wouldn't want half of what they've got on there, and nothing I wanted would be on. For instance, I asked for the plastic pocket dividers this year. All the other teachers say they're too expensive at 2.66 for the pack (at
Walmart, slightly cheaper at Target). But, if we ask for the 10 cent folders instead, we have to bend them backwards and punch hole them all to go in the binders to serve the same purpose. Our 3 hold punch doesn't work half the time which means measuring out and using a single punch. 5 folders per child x 22 children x 3 punches each folder.........and it's not like punching through paper, this is thick laminated stuff! My hands can't handle it, I feel like I'm getting carpal tunnel...............I figure ASK the parents, then if they don't bring, I'll just buy the things.
