I got Silver Lakes Silver Points...UPDATE JAN 20 with Lots of PICS.

Silvermickey:

The two bedroom units that have two king beds are the combined 1 bed/studio units that share a foyer. The two bedroom stand alone units have two doubles in the second bedroom (if I am remembering correctly).

You will have issues with the doors in these two king bed units. Try to get extra keys so you can leave one in each room. Bring good door stops. I'd bring four - two to block open the two doors and two to set by the jam to stop the doors from closing completely. The doors from the foyer in our unit automatically locked when closed and were self-closing.

You will have a dishwasher. The small one bedroom lockoffs that combine with a two bedroom to create a three bedroom unit don't have dishwashers.

In the new buildings 1700-1800 and 800-1000, The ends of the buildings contain those small one bedroom units that photobearsam stayed in and the stand alone two bedroom units. The centers of each building contain the G&H units (1 bed/studio with king beds in each) that share a foyer and combine to make a two bedroom unit. There are many more of this configuration.

One of my favorite perks and Silver Lake is the free internet access in a room on the first floor of building 1700/1800 near the fitness room. I've never used the theater, but my guess it that it is free.

Have fun!

The 2 bedroom sleeps 6 that we had was a king in each bedroom and was not 2 studios...???:confused3

I remembered the unit in building 900 as having two doubles in the second bedroom. It was a few years ago. Things must have changed. I guess all the two bedroom units in buildings 800-1000 must have two king beds now.

The last time I stayed in the older buildings, 100-700, the second bedroom had two twins or double beds.

Ok, now I am really conflicted!

We always use skyauction, and based on many positive reviews Silver Lake Resort has always been on a "short list" of resorts I would be willing to try. I had pretty much made up my mind that we would stay here on our Dec trip.

Then I thought I would throw caution to the wind and just book Bonnet Creek direct from an owner, but for that much money, I could have a 3 bdrm condo at Windsor Hills. Just when I had myself convinced that since our children will be 14(DD) and 12 (DS) when we go, we should spend the extra for the 3 bdrm so they don't have to share a room, then I see these great pictures of Silver Lake and now I am back to square one and really confused.

On one hand, I am thrifty by nature and you cannot possibly beat skyauction's price. On the other hand, for an extra few hundred dollars I could just book a condo now, have a bedroom for everybody, and not have to wait to win an auction and hope something decent is available for our dates nearly a year from now.

ARRRGGGGHHHH!

ETA: Does Silver Lake have internet available in room, or just at the business center. This could actually make my decision easier.

From what I understood, it's only in the business centre...

We just returned on Sunday from a week in a 2BR at Silver Lake. We were in building 1800 with a pool view room. Ours was a lockoff 2BR - each BR had a King bed and we had a full kitchen in the 1BR side and a microwave and fridge in the studio. There were 2 screened porches and everything was very comfy.

We did have an internet connection in our room, but it cost $9.95 per day to use. We were right above the "Business Center" where the free internet computers are located. You can also connect your own laptop to the computer if desired. There is no printer available.

We did not take the sales tour. They are planning at least one more building at the resort.

The convenient location to AK is wonderful. Sherbeth Road provides easy access to the WDW property and bypasses a long drive down 192. There is a Publix grocery nearby - up near Orange Lake Resort.

Photobear- Thanks for your pictures and info. It looks lovely and how nice it was that you decorated the Christmas "present" for your friends. It gives us something to think about as we plan how to use our "auction" find. Grammy

.

Thanks for the update on the internet, Doc! I don't mind paying for it, I just need to know it's available.

I am going to try not to have to work on vacation, but I would like to be able to keep in contact with clients if I had to.

Any pictures to share with us?

I'm bumping this up for more info. My friend who owns at Silver Lakes has given my family one of her weeks to use :yay: . I have the confirmation letter that states a 2 bedroom unit (maximum 8, private 6), kitchen: full.

Does this unit have a washer and dryer? Dishwasher? Can you get daily housekeeping for an extra fee?

we stayed here a few years back. Really liked it. at the back door of AK. There was a washer/dryer in the unit but I dont remember if you could pay for housekeeping. There was 7 of us and we had plenty of room.

Thanks for the reply. Can you tell me about the pool, it's the only thing that matters to my kids lol.

If I were to choose Silver Lake with an auction on skyauction, where is the best place to find a discount to add the 2 extra days I need? We are staying 9 nights, and they want $220-$259 per night booking through the resort directly and the most I am willing to pay is $100-$125.

can someone explain the difference between
silver lakes resort &
sliver lakes silver points???

We just booked for August, there are 4 of us and we were told by RCI we could have a 1 br with a sleeper sofa for the kids. Is this in the older section? Which section has the nicer 1 br so I know when I check in what to ask for. I hope the sleeper is not too uncomfy for the kids, those mattresses are usually cheap.

We are owners at Silver Lake Resort, these are the older units buildings 100 to 700. Silver Points are the condos building 1700 & 1800 as well as 800, 900 and newest 1000 building.

We prefer the older units for the larger size.

Thank you for the reply, do the older buildings have a washer and dryer and a kitchenette? Will 4 of us be more comfortable in the older units since they are larger?

Can't say for sure as I have never been in any of the one bedroom units. Heres a link to the different floor plans though at Silver Lake Resort. Looks like the one bedrooms have a washer & dryer.

The pictures are a few years old. The buildings are no longer painted the two tones.

The location will depend on if you booked Silver Lake Resort or Silver Lake Points.
