Robin I am so glad to learn of the news of your promotion
I actually do have some advice for handling your staff. On your first day in the new position you get them all together and tell them you have been charged with improving the productivity and decreasing errors. This means that the department will be striving for excellence, and you will be looking to each of the members to provide input on how this can be accomplished and
EXPECTING each one to participate in this improvement. Then you can set up meetings with each one individually and listen to their suggestions, complaints, etc. Sometimes new supervisors get people to move their desks
which will REALLY get their attention(and probably tick them off). As things start to improve, be sure you give them lots of props and encouragement. At your first opportunity(maybe the first Friday) I'd have some treats like a fruit or veggie tray, chips/dips, etc.
Oops, I seem to have donned my manager hat. I'll now slip back to the mouse ears.

It's actually about THREE times that paltry amount which actually allows me to be able to pay my bills!!
