Ok -- This will be my first pre-trip report or trip report, lol.

My name is Monica and I live just north of Memphis, TN. I've been on the boards since 2014ish, but disappeared for a while. We had a trip scheduled for Thanksgiving 2014, and had to cancel because I lost my job. I was too upset/depressed about cancelling my trip to read about anyone else's trip. Hubby was not too keen on going back to Disney, but as my title says, I got my way, and we are going back!~!~!

Basics -- We will be at AoA in a Little Mermaid room 10/09-10/15 to celebrate my DD's (Missy) 11th b-day and our 17th wedding anniversary. I am in the beginning stages of my planning, so that's all I've got so far. I will be back later with more in depth bios of the family and pictures...posting from work, and can't get into photobucket.

You hooked me with your title! We have a couple of things in common already. My last trip was in February 2014. I am hoping to make a return trip in 2017. Like you, my hubby is not a big Disney fan so it will take lots of convincing on my part to go again.

I have two kids, my son is 19 and my daughter will be turning 13 later this month. So, my kids are older than yours. How old is your son?
I really love the themeing of the AoA Little Mermaid rooms. I had booked it originally for my 2014 trip but then a deal came out that made the mods just a little bit more, so I switched to PORFQ.

For my 2017 trip, I am thinking about AoA LM or mods again if discounts make it affordable.

My son is 22. He actually just moved out this past weekend, so that's why he's not joining us. I know this may sound ugly, but he was a huge downer on our last trip with his attitude (He was 16 at the time), so I'm glad he's not going with us. I had originally booked a Nemo suite at AoA for the cancelled trip. Missy really wanted to stay at AoA, but we don't need a suite since it's just 3 of us, so I decided to go with the LM room. She told me the other day that she really wants to stay at AoA if we ever go back (she doesn't know), so I'm glad I went with AoA even though it's a little more $$ than the AS resorts.

I promise to update tonight. I had to work on school work last night, and didn't get a chance to get on here.

No hurry about updating. I will be here when you do. I can relate with being bogged down with school work. I can also understand how teenagers can but a damper on things. I teach eighth grade, so I have to deal with all sorts of moods and 140 different personalities each day.

Ah, a surprise trip for Missy. It will be fun when you do tell her, and it is great you went with AoA LM.

And, our trip that was supposed to happen in 2 weeks got cancelled...

We've relocated to South Korea for DH's career for the next 3 years. On the plus side, we are going to go to Tokyo, Hong Kong and Shanghai while we're on this side of the world. Dh also promised me a week in Orlando when we get back to the States!!

WOW! That is a life change! While overseas you can go to one of the Disney parks there! I know I just saw an ad fof Shanghai on the top of the board. That would certainly be a fun trip report to read! Hang in there and enjoy your adventure over the next three years. I think there is also a Disney park in Hong Kong or Toykyo too, so you can just plan to go to one of them.

I would certainly try talking my hubby into it if I was you. You can play up the fact that you moved because of his job and having to cancel the Florida trip. Since you are there anyway, it makes since to check out the Disney parks for a little bit of a taste of the good ole USA.

Keep posting!

I definitely have plans to visit the parks in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Tokyo. DH knew that was a must if I agreed to moving here, just like he knew a week in Orlando was a must when we return to the States. His biggest concern was that he thinks DD will be too old for Disney when we get back, but she set him straight and told him that you're never too old for Disney, lol.

Your DD is a smart cookie! Exactly! You are never too old for Disney. So, are you there now or in the process of moving? What Disney park do you think you will get to go see first?

Are you going to keep a journal or blog of your adventures? You should. Or you could just post here in this thread and modify the title to include all the new parks you will be seeing. I am more than happy to read and respond as a Disney friend. It is what I do to help me pass the time between my own visits to the parks. I typically go every 2 to 4 years. The last time I was at WDW was in 2014.
