Can I just say, YAY!

I made my October reservations a few months ago (at the 11 month mark). I did not book air fare because at the time I had absolutely no idea where I would be living. At the time we were in Maryland, but there was a good chance I would be moving. Well.... I moved. I am in Dallas, now.

It's been painful trying to figure out how to get comfortably from here to MCO. I never realized now much I took for granted.... I had it all down to a science in Maryland. I had a dog sitter who I could email and she would take care of my dogs at the drop of a hat. I had a place to store my car. I had the house setup for vacation. I knew which airlines to fly and what times of the day they flew.

Everything has changed! Just finding reasonable airfare is a feat! (And I don't call this reasonable compared to what I used to pay... I used to get to MCO for about $400 for 2 people both ways... it's running $1500 for this trip).

Don't take your groove for granted. Just my 2 cents!!!

Wow - I guess SW still can’t fly direct to Orlando from Dallas, right? Great old law to keep SWA from competing with AA and others - has long outlived its usefulness (was never truly reasonable as far as I was concerned). Lots more competition in/near Maryland = lower fares. Have a wonderful trip!

I booked my tickets for Thanksgiving week within an hour after Southwest opened the dates. I got them for $456 out of Austin. We wanted to fly out of San Antonio, but things were moving fast, when I was putting in my CC number, the tickets went to over $600, so I booked Austin instead. And wow, after I finished, they went up to nearly $1000. I was lucky. I know, Thanksgiving Week...ugh. But it was the only time everyone could go.

SW does have direct flights from Love field to MCO. We use their park and fly parking lot when we travel since it comes out to about the same as us getting an Uber minivan round trip.

Was gonna say they have like 8 or 9 every day. I have friend who flies from SAT to MCO through DAL regularly.

That’s good to hear! We moved away from North Texas 14 years ago, so I wasn’t aware.

Yup. That's what I ended up having to do - fly from Love. But the ticket prices are significantly more than BWI which I found surprising since I thought Love was their home base. From BWI I generally could find flights in the sub $200 range (usually around $117 or $139). The cheapest from Love around October were in the $350+ range per direction per passenger. More than double what I generally am used to.

I think there are a lot more competing airlines flying from BWI (or that general area) to MCO than there are flying from the DFW area to MCO.

We go this time frame every year too

I always make sure to use SWA to book these flights as price is normally quite high on release date. They eventually would drop, by half if not more, before the actual flight.

between seeing less NS offered & the pent up travel demands, figure that’s rather doubtful this year

also, had the price increase issue while I was booking this year, a first for me. Thought if you were inputting personal info you had a lock on the rate???

wound up settling for last NS flight down, won’t arrive till nearly midnight, sigh.

Wound up paying $337 pp RT. If I had selected the new pricing for any earlier NS flights, the price would’ve jumped $200 pp:headache: Will keep a good eye on that reservation &hope for some movement

SWA has been extremely expensive to fly out of anywhere right now. I booked our tickets for a Nov trip out of BUF to MCO the day they opened up. Within a few hours the prices jumped $20-40 dollars and by the end of the day it was over $100 more then in the morning. Now the tickets are close to $400 one way per person. It's insane.

wow, they are high!
We used to pay a lot less flying from Midway in Chicago to MCO.
