I got hit with (inappropriate room title)

Yes, your eyes haven't deceived you. I'm now officially a room title rule
breaker. I came into my Haunted Mansion room tonight, after having this
room title for a year....

What was offensive?

My Haunted Mansion room title was:

Bring Your Dead Certificate

I'm not sure why VMK suddenly deemed this inappropriate after a year
with this room, which is also coincidentally set up as an exit room during
my game. The room title is from the Haunted Mansion ride, and since
I can't say "Bring Your Death Certificate", I thought it would be perfectly
acceptable.

Instead, my room is now called Hurry Back, Hurry Back. In the description,
I mention that Little Leota wants you to bring the dead certificate in order
for you to stay forever in the Mansion.

If that part of Disney attraction storytelling is still deemed unacceptable,
I'll remove that part of my description. But I'm venting because well...

I'm pretty bummed that they changed my room title.

Ok, someone get out the tiny violin. I'm done with my whining.

So sorry to read that, Briar. I haven't been to your room, but have heard raves about it. But I think even worse is when you think about what must be changed vs. what staff lets go right on by. Boys meet Girls sleepover or whatever it was immediately comes to mind; whether staff closed that down or not I don't know, but it sure was up and running long enough either way. Homeless bay be daycare is another. But hey, all that garbage is fine. But a room title taken from one of the most popular theme park rides? A ride that even has its own tribute game in VMK? Oh Heavens no, that might offend somebody! Can't have that!

Some things about VMK never cease to amaze me. And not in a good way, either.

ride thought I was into some creepy morgue thing. And he/she might have
seen my room on the room list when I had it full of people, then reported me
to the Big White Glove.

I've reported inappropriate room titles. Somehow, I can't see my room
being on par with......Red Light District
(Yes, I reported that particular room!)

I'm just really curious to know why after all this time, it happened.

It could very well be a player reported it. But what really burns me up about this is Staff or the techies or whoever does that should read the report (if there was one) and KNOW that's from the end of the Haunted Mansion. Walt started the idea of excellence from the CMs, movies, all of it. I don't care if they just work on VMK, they are Disney employees and they ought to have some basic knowledge of the rides and parks, especially a ride that they themselves advertise. It just baffles the mind that a game designed to promote the parks and the rides at said parks turns arounds and says a room title advertising one of their rides is unacceptable. Lunacy. Sheer lunacy.

And one other thing... Red Light District?!!!! Just when you think players can't go any lower...

I'm just truly baffled to why this happened. Maybe I will ask Suzy about it...

This is basically what I wanted to say. Even if it was reported, staff should realize its from a park attraction! There was nothing at all wrong with that room title!

I'm sorry to say that I'm getting more and more disgusted with these type of things happening in VMK. I used to defend a lot of unexplainable and negative things in vmk last year when the game was new. I figured they needed time to work the bugs out, develop their system etc.. But now the game is a year and a half old and I'm sorry but I don't see why they have not been able to now run the game with more consistency. It seems as if they still tackle issues as they arise without following any kind of guideline that makes sense. Consequences vary from staff member to staff member. I also find it very rude that they constantly take action without ever explaining to anyone why something is being done. Some things are obvious yes, but all too often we hear of stories like this where out of the blue you are picked on. If it were me I'd like to know why so I don't repeat whatever random rule was broken.

I have a better idea than the HM boycott, because I love that ride too! Lets all name a room "Bring your Dead Certificate" and then put in the description something like "Just as leota says in the ride at the real park"

Just to let you know I would never boycott the ride or send out a petition I just wanted to point out how ridiculous that would be just as ridiculous as banning bring your dead certificate.

No, I don't think I'd describe it as that extreme. If VMK is changing more
inappropriate room titles and cracking down on things much worse than this,
then that's the upside to this.

(I just wanted a clue as to why my room title was not appropriate...)

I'm glad that there are others who also feel that the title change was
"out there".
