I called CRO lastnight and talked to a CM about my May 2006, he was very nice and helpful. I then asked him if I had a pin anywhere in my profile. On my profile he had known every trip I had taken and with whom, etc. So Disney does keep a strong record keeping system. He told me how many times I had been to Disney and where all I had stayed. He also told me that I had been to Disney almost 20 times. He then told me "NO" Pin. :guilty: I said geez all the money over the year's, all the trips, etc. all the survey's and so on, and I never get one of those emails or post cards! So I asked him what does one have to do to get these things, he put me on hold and said I can add you to the mailing and email list, :confused3 Now I thought I was already on these list since they have all my information. Come to find out it is up to a CM to add you to these list, it is done random basis CM told me, So he put me on hold and came back and said I am now on both list, and I should now recieve the emails and postcards with code's and pin# :cheer2:

I went on the WDW web site and made sure I was on their email list. Maybe I should call too for the snail mail postcard.

I've rec'd two postcards over the last five years. Both have been sent to my maiden name (got married about 5 years ago). I signed up for the Disney mailing list before I got married. Never took a trip to WDW under the maiden name.

I've taken 5 trips to Disney since I got married. Never received a postcard in my new married name.

Looks like they send postcards and emails mostly to people who never travel to WDW. (my maiden name). (clear as mud, lol?)

I've been on their mailing lists for years and have never gotten a post card. The way postcards and pins are given are completely random.

I was recently told my a CM that my mother is more likely to get a postcard than I am. My mother goes every 2-3 years, and I go every year.

I'd agree with that CM. We received one the last two years for Oct-Dec which is a different time from when we normally go. We received one in Feb of 03 for our June 03 trip (reservation made already) and we weren't there since June of 01. I think they are trying to get people to go at different times and to come back again if there is time between trips. They had a record of our code use from 03 in the system when I asked about discounts attached to my name.

How do you double check that you are on their mailing list? I think I am, but have also never received an email or snail mail pin # and I'd like to double check. Thanks :)

I recieved a postcard rate a few months ago but couldn't go at that time.

Pin codes are done by marketing. They are done to target a specific market segment. You cannot request to be put on the list and a cast member at the call center cannot put you on it.

I called and talked to a CM a couple of weeks ago and was told the emails and the postcards are done by a marketing company (as AirJoe stated), that Disney has nothing to do with who gets the codes or why, it's just random.

I've just decided that I'm glad I booked something that I can afford and if a code comes up, great---and if not, oh well. I'll go and have a great time anyway :)

they never had my e mail address either
so no wonder I never got a e mail code
Just ask if they have your e mail address next time you phone

I received a code for my trip last October and I had never been to Disney before! The only thing I had done was buy tickets for the parks and MNSSHP.

When I called last week to make my ressie the CM correctly verified my e-mail address. She had info about various trips but interstingly did not have my last 2 trips on her screnn. She had me as my last trip in 11/03 when we had been in 8/04 & 10/04 as well.

My co-worker got a postcard and has never even been to Disney World! She brought it to me hoping I could use it but, alas, as we all know, I could not. The postcard was for dates in late April through July that there are currently no codes out for. MY TA says it's promising that they are sending out pin postcards. I'm waiting for AP or FL res codes to come out but we are still going either way!

I have been 8 times, my DD just once under her married name...but, she was traveling with me in a resort room under my name. However, who got the post card? DD did, not me! I just can't figure it out. When they say random, I think they reeeeaaaaly mean random!

My DH and I have gone to the Food & Wine Festival every year since 1998. We always book a BWV one-bedroom through CRO and stay at least 10 nights. We have never received a postcard even though all our stays are in the CRO records.

We had to laugh because at the last F&W Festival we were at one of the Exclusive Evening at Epcot Dinners and were seated next to a very senior Epcot executive. He was very pleasant, but when I mentioned that we never get a postcard, a special offer, etc., he laughed uproariously and said "Of course you don't. Why would we make any effort to lure you to Disneyworld -- we already know you're coming no matter what."

That said it all. We will never get a postcard!!

This is the same marketing technique our DS used. I never would get free deals with postcards. They knew I would spend my cold hard cash already so why give me free stuff??

I agree with ElizabethB. My husband said the same thing when I complained that we never got a postcard with a special code or rate. He said they know we go every year. Why would they market to a person that they know is coming back.

I have been told the same and I do believe this is completely random.

Ususally we travel to Disney about every two years, and we book under my mother's name. When the TA checked her name, there was no code; but I had a code attached to my name. We were booking with or without a code, but we now added an extra night because of the code.
