Hi all,

I've been calling for some time (1 month or so) to try and get a dinner at the Castle on October 3 (our first night arriving in WDW and it's our honeymoon!).
Anyways...no luck. Yesterday, I finally got a reservation for 6:10 on October 9th...not what we want but hey, we'll take it!

Well,... i called back this afternoon. The lady says "oh yes, i have something at 8:10pm for you (which was perfect cause we want to be there for the fireworks too!)... and then she says "oh sorry, I can't give that to you".
So I go "Why is that?"... she says "it's only for a party of 3"....
So supposedly, is she has a spot for 3 or 4 or whatever, she can't give it out or split it up for other people - it has to be a certain number (3-4-5 whatever they are looking for) which i think is odd but anyways.
So I go "oh please, we've been waiting for this for a month and it's our honeymoon...you'd be amazing!".. and then she goes "i could but you have to tell me that you'll be 3".... I go "we'll be 3!"... and there it is! We now have a reservation @ 8:10pm on October 3rd!! Amazing.

BUT, i am so surprised at how Disney works it out... like the planning of the reservations. I wonder when i call...if they see availabilities for like 3-4-5 people since the first day i called...but they couldn't do anything about it.
That's really strange.

My 2 cents! I'm pretty happy

After your honeymoon, you might be three... :rotfl: Hope you have a wonderful trip! We Disneymooned in 1995 at the Poly, and it was glorious.

Sounds so familiar. I've been trying to get Ohanas and Chef Mickeys for our trip in the beginning of October, so I've been calling at least once a day for a couple of weeks to see if something opens up. Well, last night I call and the CM says they had a ADR for Ohanas at 8:00 so I say we'll take it, so she starts to take all my info and then she says "oops, this is for a party of three not four". I thought about saying, ok, there will just be three of us and then showing up with four but I didn't.

allie&mattsmom,

We had ADR's for 'Ohana in July for a party of 8. We walked up with a party of 10 and they had no problem seating us. We just got there about 20 minutes early in case we had to wait a bit. So I would go ahead and book for 3 and show up with 4. They don't have any tables that are just for 3 anyway. So go ahead and book your 'Ohana for 3 and show up with 4. I don't think it will be a problem at all.

If you have a party of 2 - don't EVEN tell them that. Make a reservation for 3 - and when you check in, tell them that somebody dropped out.

I think it has a lot to do with the fact that if you reserve for THREE people, they actually hold a tabletop for 4 people. If you're only looking for dining for 2 people - those 2 people tables are probably very limited.

I don't know if that's the official reason, but it's my best guess.

SO yeah - make the reservation for 3, and see how many time slots open up! :)

At the moment the CM said for a party of three.... I woulda said, "oh, my mother-in-law will be joining us after all." (Heaven forbid) ;>)
