I got Blacklisted at WalMart!!!

That's bull! It's Christmas return time ... what do they expect!?!?!? I would not stand for it!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get out there and fight for your right to return!!!!!!

I truly have a love/hate (well maybe not love) relationship with the big W. I was almost arrested once because a "greeter" stopped me on my way OUT. I had purchased over $100 and she "claimed" my vitamins had some kind of chip in them that say they were stolen. I claim vitamins can't speak at all.

This was not W's store brand where she may have know it was talking, we are purchasing One-A-Days that do not yell, burp, or clear their little throats. No alarms or sirens sounded, no bells rang, no lasers or warning lights flooded the store. How did she know until she looked down my entire grocery list, that I had even bought the little buggers. Long story short, I emailed W, a befuddled but apologetic manager called and sent me a gift card for my "troubles." Troubles heck! I felt like America's Most Wanted.

Sorry about the :offtopic: but it feels good to vent. I do understand the returning policy though, it is taken advantage of by some. A guy tried to return a fishing rod one day and it had fish guts all over it. They also had not sold that model in 3 years. :rolleyes1

If it still has tags on and a receipt, they are pretty good about the whole thing. They need to be, their stuff leaves a lot to be desired, except for the prices. That's what keeps us coming back.

I got a letter from QVC once about excessive returns.

REALLY?!?!?! OMG, that is what they always brag about. (Like even if the bottle is empty you can return it within 30 days) I never hesitate to send stuff back to QVC. I wonder if I'll get one of those letters in my future.

I just returned an item the other day with a receipt to Wally world and they didnt ask any questions or ask for any identification. I wonder if store to store has a different policy, since you are saying you returned 2 with no receipt and 1 with a receipt.
Ive got three gifts I need to return I wonder if im gonna get freaked out on?? UGGHHHH.

Good for Wal-mart for taking a stand on excessive returns!! :thumbsup2

Lots of people try to abuse the system.

If you have a RECEIPT and are returning something within a REASONABLE amount of time (30 days) then there should be no problem.

But WITHOUT a reciept? Why should they take it back? :confused3

Yes it is, Like I said....3 days after Christmas the lady in line next to me was returning her Christmas Tree. It's like returning your kids Halloweeen Costume the day after. But as long as you haven't exceeded the 3 returns per person.....it's allowed. :confused3

I have an acquaintance who is not a poor individual, and she should know right from wrong. She is a teacher, but doesn't behave like one. She lives in a $900,000 house, so is obviously not needy. Here's how she abused the return policy system...

She bought clothing - weekly - from Boscov's, Penney's, Macy's, etc. She would purchase the same look-alike clothing from TJ Maxx, Marshall's, etc. She sewed the labels from the good clothing into the "look-alike" clothing, then took it back to the major department stores, with a receipt, for a return. Penney's was the first to notice. She was never arrested for this, but one by one the stores stopped her return privileges.

I wish they had arrested her! I cannot believe anyone would stoop so low.

But don't you think they should have this "3 Returns per person" posted somewhere??? And the manager told me it was 3 per person w/in 30 days regardless of receipt or no receipt.

If they had this policy posted somewhere, I would've combined all my items into 1 return ;) instead of making 3 seperate trips to the store.

Im just not getting it, cuz like I said i returned something with a receipt last week and they didnt ask for identification which actually surprised me since it was over 30 days and over 70.00 (something i bought and then never used). I do make returns at least a few times a yr sometimes with receipt sometimes without . I have never gotten any complaints.

I used to work for a major Department store in Jrs dept and we had a woman constantly return stuff , with her receipts, we could NEVER figure out what she was doing, but something was off, she was in every week. Clothes never look worn or anything. I would love to know what scam she was running.

we had a UPS guy tell us once that the lady who worked across the street bought tons of clothing online - wore everything once and then returned it!!!! He knew because he had to pick up the returns and apparently she admitted it to him. Some people!

My mom is always picking up clothing for DD and DS at WalMart, without them being with her, and she usually ends up having to return something and she has never been blacklisted. I also wonder if it's a store by store policy.

oh man this is ridiculous. If you have a receipt it shouldn't count against you. Our Target is much worse though- 2 returns without a receipt within a year and then I think you have to wait another year before you can do it again. I agree that there is a real problem with people abusing the return policy but I also think that if I am in Target AT LEAST once a week, then I am also likely to have more returns than the average customer and a little bit of leeway should be given. Not my policy to make though so I guess I just have to deal with what they give out, like it or not

forgot to add, that what really irks me about this is that no distinction is made if it is an exchange or a return. So I could go in and exchange a pair of shoes for a different size and it still counts the same as if I returned a big ticket item without a receipt

This happened to me once because of no receipts. However,I went back 1 month later with a return and no receipt-no problem.

may have been a way to hide income. we had welfare clients who would arrange for money to be given or paid to them via merchandise from places with cash refund policies. their employer or a family member would give them something they purchased for cash at a retailer-then the client would walk in and get a cash/check refund. that way if we looked at their bank records and saw a bunch of deposits they could pull out the return receipts and say they got the item as a gift (tangible gifts like this did'nt change their grants-cash gifts in the same amount did).

i also worked for a retailer that had a liberal return policy (furiture store)-some of the local drug dealers would come in and put thousands down on huge amounts of furniture with a pushed out delivery date of a few months (set it up with the minimum amount needed to keep it in lay away status). then every couple of weeks would come in and cancel a portion of the order and get that part refunded by check. the money they then deposited into their bank accounts (and it was easier to not be questioned about large check deposits from local retailers vs. crumpled up piles of 20's). even when we instituted a re-stocking fee the dealers felt it was 'worth it':sad2:

I for one am glad stores are starting to do this. We have neighbors that buy all kinds of stuff for little projects around the house, use it then take it back, so not right. It's a shame the innocent always get snared in the net to catch the bad but that's the way the ball bounces. And I'm sure there are way more bad customers being snared by this than innocents.
