Between the two AKV projects - if you buy into Jambo - are you still a member at Kidani and vice versa - isn't it all one project? Are there any drawbacks to either?

I asked my rep the same question, as I am potentially interested in staying conceirge in Jambo. She said it is all AKV and it didn't matter which the contract had; you can make ressies at both 11 months out (of course, once Kidani is actually open).

My guide just called me back...Unfortunately he still says that 100 point developer's point is only for 160 point contracts

That deal sounds like it might be Jambo points that have the option of banking current year to use next year. Kidani wouldn't have bankable points yet.

There have been reports of people buying Kidani units with a starting UY of June '08 and an occupancy date of May 1, 2009. The first allotment of points can be used for stays between 5/1/09 and 5/31/09 or can be banked into the June '09 UY. They also got SSR developer points so they have points they can use over the next 12 months, but only at SSR.

ETA: Just so I don't further confuse things here, the info above refers to people who purchased 160-point contracts, not to the purchase of these new 100-pt contracts.

I also just purchased a week or so ago the 100 point AK contract. I just spoke with my guide about the developer points and he said that is not correct and to get the person who received these 100 dp personal info and then he would go to his manager. I obviously wasnt going to try to get someone's personal info and I believe he knew that which really made me mad. Within in two minutes he called back to say that mistakes had been made and if this person I am speaking with(aka the dis board members) did receive points on a mistake that there is no way that I would get them based on a mistake!! I then said well won't all these people I am talking about be considered a mistake?! Feel really frustrated and disappointed. I also asked about an Oct use year and he said that was only for existing members so MatterhornMiss let me know if your guide gives you an Oct. use year-I would really appreaciate it.

If I get Oct 07 use year, I will probably let everyone know. And believe me, I share your frustration. Throughout this process I have been getting misinformation and confusing information (particularly about the promotions) that at times I thought of asking for a different representative. It probably wouldn't have made a difference. What it sounds like is they all get these memos that may not be entirely clear and then are left to interpret for each individual. I do know that a representative can ask a manager for exceptions to the rules, but it seems like they don't give them out very often. But, it never hurts to try. If you really don't think it's fair, you can always ask to speak with your representative's manager.

Oh, back to the Oct 07 use year. My rep said she thought they were sold out. However, she did get permission from her manager to give me one, if they are still available. Otherwise, it will be April 08.

I've read many different places, including on the dvc website that includes the info we all seem to be getting now about the Steve Harvey promotion, is that the developer points HAVE to be used within 12 months of issue, or you lose them. And you can only use them at SSR OR Interval International, not at any of the other DVC resorts. Until a week or two ago, the only available contracts for AKV were for the Kidani village, which meant no live inventory until May 09. Somehow (my rep didn't know how) there is now some live inventory for AKV, I assume for Jambo house. Looking at resale websites, there is already some AKV contracts available, some for $20/point less than disney. I assume DVC might have used their ROFR and bought back some. If you buy into AKV with live inventory, you can use your points now. However, because you are able to use them now, you also have to start paying maintenance fees. If you were to buy a contract that restricted you to making a ressie after May 09, you wouldn't start paying maintenance fees until then. Also, if anyone wants SSR, from what I've been hearing, you need to buy now. I think they are expecting to run out of inventory very soon.

Grrr this is sooo frustrating!!!! We are leaving tomorrow and I am very interested in buying the 100 pt contract but only if I can get the developer points. Otherwise I'll wait and buy resale after BLT comes out.

I just talked with my guide and she said I got Oct 07 use year! That is so exciting! The only problem will be if I have to cancel this Sept reservation, then I lose all my points for the year . However, I have been planning this trip for A YEAR, so I hope I don't have to (I know no one knows for sure). But this is great, since I'm having to borrow 08's points to take this trip in Sept. But, if I had an April 08 use year, I would be borrowing 09s points. I am so excited!

Mickeyshellbelle, I'm not sure how it works if you already have a contract. I would call your guide and ask if you can change. Maybe nothing is set in stone if you haven't signed anything. Good Luck! (Sorry, I tried to send a PM, but I don't have enough posts to be able to do so.)

Well, after all that fuss about an Oct 07 use year, now I have to go back to Apr 08. I went to book 3 nights at the GF and she wasn't able to do it because I'm inside 120 days of my use year Oh well. I called my guide again, and she said she could rewrite my contract. I just have to wait ANOTHER 24 hours to be able to make the ressie. I know that staying at the GF is not an effective use of my points, and it eats into the next use year's points, but I had planned a trip to the GF for a year and am going with my cousins. I don't want to change last minute. Now I'll just have to wait an additional 6 months to catch up points. But, on the plus side, I won't lose points if I have to cancel Sept trip for any reason.

Anyway, to answer my previous post's question, mickeyshellbelle you would be able to get a different use year if your rep will rewrite the contract, but I'm pretty sure you'd have to do this before you sign anything. Well, another lesson learned.

For those of you who purchased 100 at AKL and DID get developer points, were you a new contract or an add on? If you are a new contract and got the 100 points, I'd love to know who your guide is. I have been hearing of people getting them and ours says no.
