This is my 
thread! I'm doing my medicine rotation, and had a good couple days. On Friday, I caught that one of the patients on my floor, a Type 1 diabetic, wasn't being given insulin. All the residents missed that, but I caught it, so I got some brownie points for that 
Then, today, I had a patient that needed a test done, it was ordered on Friday. Wasn't done over the weekend (we figured it wouldn't be cause it was the weekend), and wasn't done yesterday. When I called to find out what was going on, I found out that nobody had brought him down, even though he was called. When I went to talk to his nurse, telling her it was holding up his discharge, and that it needed to be done TODAY, she didn't even know he was scheduled for one. And she couldn't promise that he would go down today either. So I ended up taking him down myself.
When my resident heard that I took him down myself, she got so happy with that, and from what happened on Friday, that she told me I could take a day off, whenever I wanted, just let her know a day or 2 before that I was going to take off.
I asked if she really meant any day, including a Friday or a Monday, so I can get a 3 day weekend, and she said absolutely. So I'm taking off on a Monday, giving myself a 3 day weekend, and going to Atlantic City for a long weekend 
I never thought I would be so happy for a long weekend.
