So whats worse then the plane ride home from Disney?? Sitting at work a year later in the freezing cold of January and thinking "Exactly on year ago today I was enjoying my last day at Disney..." BLAH!

Got any other "worse than the plane ride home stories"???

Knowing that two months ago, I was packing to go on our longest trip-14 days. Now it's January, my husband and my mother both say they are "burnt" out by Disney, there's no trip to plan like there was last year and there won't be for the near future, and I miss it already but no one else in my family does, etc. etc. I am very depressed acutally. Can you tell?

What's even worse is that I am in college now and simply cannot afford another trip until I get out...But by then my boyfriend will be in NYPD and we'll be relocating upstate and probably STILL unable to afford it...so it looks like my next vacation is some years off...

Having to cancel two trips in 4 months!

and

Knowing that right now I should technically be in Disney World if I hadn't had to cancel!

:(

How about coming home from a great WDW trip in the spring to four feet of water in the basement? :( It happened to us a few years back. It was a nightmare. The sump pump quit, the basement flooded. AS the water got higher, it floated the dry sink and broke a pipe under the sink, adding to the flood. We lost the furnace, the washer and dryer and just about everything that had been down there. From the lack of messages on the answering machine (we lost phone, too), we figure it happened just a few days after we left. :(

Wow. Did that happen at your current home Barb? Or was that at the home that was featured on Trading Spaces?

Havin' a guy who wants to go to disney more than you do but can't!

Just over a year ago my fiance herniated 3 discs in his lower back. He can't even sit in a chair, let alone fly down to WDW and make the rounds at the parks. It has been really hard on him. We used to go 2 or 3 times a year, he especially misses our christmas trip.

He was sweet enough to let me go twice last year -- Mother's Day with his mom and once by myself in July. There was one catch .. he wanted me to take tons of pictures and email atleast one picture home a day! He couldn't believe it when I sent him pics of mission space-- he looooooves space and has been talking about that ride since they announced it. One good thing is that it has given him motivation to work harder to get better :) I really hope that they will continue to offer the lunch with and imagineer program, as I want to surprise him with that when he gets better.. it has been so hard not to tell him about it!

I feel soo bad for the person who came home to 4 ft of water!!! Would it have helped to turn the water off before you left? I have always wondered if that is something we should do when we go away. I hope the insurance covered it or atleast helped.

Last month when we drove home (24+ hours straight thru)from Disney in our motor home, we started seeing snow in VA. The roads got real bad in CT and RI. We live on a side street which had not been plowed yet but a plow had gone thru making the mountain of snow at the bottom of our road. It was 530am with over a foot of snow. My FIL decided that he could make it onto our road to get us to our house. Needless to say we got real stuck with the motor home half in the main street. Took 1/2 hour to shovel it and just get it onto our road. Then my husband had to go get my boots and the kids(dd4, ds2, dd2) winter coats at our house (1/8 mile up the road). It was just about daybreak when we had to carry them to the house. A couple hours later we had plowed out the motor home and found out the heaters around the pipes did not work that well and the pipes were frozen.

John, that was this house. I still come home and go straight to the basement before I even unload the suitcases!
I do agree that if I had to cancel a WDW trip, just knowing that I should be there at that time, would just about kill me!:(

Some of these are frivolous compared to the others, but anyway...;)

Waiting forever (sometimes close to an hour) for a taxi to get home from the airport

Getting on an city bus that is structurally exactly like the WDW ones, but instead, I have to pay to ride, and none of the ads are Disney ones

Going back to work!!! (Well, I guess this makes the next trip possible, doesn't it? )

I can beat the 21 hour Amtrak by 7 hours! Ugh!
I feel very sorry for you then because I was ready to jump out the train window! Don't you hate it when you finally get off, and for the next 2 days you still feel like you're rocking?! Actually, I wanted to get off at any stop, walk around to the other side of the station, and GO BACK TO VIRGINIA! I hate walking in the door at home and reality hits you in the face. :(

It was LONG and awful. Because it was right after 9/11 the train was packed and that slowed things down alot. Plus we were the next to last stop (Penn Station in Newark).

We always drive down. What's worse than the drive back is when I think I'm finally handling my WDW withdrawal, I go to have film developed a month or so later and didn't realize I had WDW pics on that roll. Then it makes me miss WDW all over again.:o

For some reason, the ride from S. FL up to DC was shorter than the ride back. When we came back from DC, it was packed! Funny how it emptied out when we reached Orlando!!! LOL! :smooth:
